If you plan to go offshore, or even 1/4 mile out into a lake, DON’T do it in a cheap plastic kayak. Those things aren’t seaworthy. They’re thin plastic. Not wearing your PFD on one of those things while in water over your head is like playing Russian roulette.
The guy is lucky to be alive to tell the story. I hope somebody learns something from watching the video.
Wow! Just wow! Thanks for sharing!

Unfortunately or fortunately we need to see and hear stories like this to drive the message even harder. Do your homework, be prepared and wear your dang PFD.

Amazes me how many people I see in a kayak not wearing a life jacket.

I've tried to just be as quiet as I can but.....rant coming....this guy.....he has a yotube channel and to the masses who don't know better he is looked at as somewhat of an "expert " this is what he does. That said, he may not know better because he learned it all on yotube himself from another "expert".....this is the new cycle. To me, even worse this very respected and knowledgeable magazine highlights him, his channel and the giant mistake he and his buddy made. I may be very different than others but I started in a very different time. It was canoeing or kayaking first and fishing second. I've always believed pedal kayaks have a place but still the paddle needs to be mastered. The life jacket is always on no matter what period. There are rules you have to follow and skills that need to be practiced to be successful and safe. The fact I see these guys offshore in sub par kayaks, the fact neither one knew self rescue much less be prepared for it. Both of those kayaks should've been stuffed with pool noodles from the start. It's just frustrating that the Glenn Madden and Robert field...several others too but that knowledge is clouded by complete foolishness that can and I'm sure has led to people getting hurt.

yep, I agree.. fake it until you make it must be their motto.. I think anyone that trolls two rods at the same time offshore from a kayak, is an idiot, but a lot of them, even the experienced guys still do it.

I don't think that guy could fit anything else on that kayak. Hahahaha. You could see right away he was gonna loose the fish. He had way too much pressure on em

He had way too much pressure on em Two fish put way too much pressure on him! and no paddle was ever seen ... can understand why he uses training wheels I remember fishing with a guy in a rig just like that.. he snapped his outrigger off in the surf while trying to launch
