Will McClay had a vision to build the league’s best offense line and a strong defense….which he did.

…..yet the Cowboys crumble badly early in the playoffs with no conference game appearance since 1996.
….in part because they don’t have depth on the team…the starters are burned out and/or injured come playoff time; in order to have depth you have to develop players picked after the third round, make good free agency trades, and have clear head coach team leadership authority.

In any other organization (other than Al Davis’ Raiders), Mr McClay would have been promoted to full GM in 2012 or so to handle the above responsibilities and secure a healthy Head Coach authority structure.

But, instead Jerry disrupts any semblance of a clear vision like a fly in the ointment. He makes bizarre, wild Glory Hole reaches in free agency (Trey Lance) wasting future draft picks….or he has overpaid older players he likes so they have no money left over to do anything on the free agent market.

So, the Cowboys can continue to draft well, but Jerry continues to hamstring the team creating an old, susceptible to injury and burnout by playoff time team with no gas in the tank or depth needed for playoff time. Stephen didn’t fall far from the tree; and the Cowboys will likely suffer another thirty years of Jones family meddling after Jerry is with Pam.

I couldn't have said it any better

As far as drafting QB's goes, you need to be in the top 10 to have much of a chance at an elite QB ( or get lucky ), the Cowboys have not drafted there very many times, and when they did they were not in the QB market. I think the Cowboys will surprise a few people this year.

Your a broken record on your love for Jerry. Since 1995 there have been 6 head coaches 100s of assistant coaches and scouts and a couple thousand players. No super bowl or a sniff of one. Only constant in the last 30 years is Jerry.

Went to bed early. I knew better than to watch Jerry do something stupid. And stupid is as Jerry does. Who needs skill players? At least find a replacement for Guyton or Steele.

Is Jerry is so senile he can't remember anything??? Oh look...Tyler Tyler Tyler....name sounds familiar....let's draft him.

They are old and past their peak at nearly every position other than kicker and in need of rebuilding.
It starts with the Oline.
Good draft pick.

You know they just signed offensive guards Robert Jones and Saahdiq Charles in free agency? bang

As long as they took the best player available on their draft board I have no problem with the pick, they probably did not have a good trade down in front of them for them to get the player they wanted. The rest of the draft will decide whether or not this is a good draft, also the two trades jerry mentioned, it will be interesting to see if that was bs or for real.

I’m sure he is going to be another great OL for the cowboys. I was hoping Ashton Jeanty or Tetairoa McMillan would be there at 12.

Best guard in the draft....pretty much the 100% consensus by the folks that know....pancaking SEC guys and at the 2nd level.

You've got to replace Martin... which is a "good luck" thing, but, the kid is a day dot starter... and, BTW, where were all these day dot guaranteed "skill position" players when they drafted at 12?
Answer: G O N E already....(Jeanty and McMillan)

NOW, if they don't draft skill guys in the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th etc then they've fumbled the draft.... My bet is they'll draft a RB, WR, or a DB in the 2nd...most probably a WR IMOP. I'm also VERY curious about the trade talk myself.. 😉

Like the pick. Keep building the o and d line. Maybe a corner. Rinse and repeat next year. Suck 2 more years and hope you have a shot at Arch.
