Last I knew mountain lions are territorial. If the population in their core range increases, the young males roam for a new home, like said already often along river corridors. They show up in the news fairly often in many states. I know in Iowa where they aren’t known to live in decades maybe over a century, they aren’t protected, and deer hunters have shot them.

I’m not sure what the rules are here, I’ve never heard of anyone shooting one or thinking about it.

They are a nongame animal in Texas. They can be killed 24/7/365

Males home range can be around 100 square miles. Females about 50 square miles.

Under normal population circumstances, but those young males are definitely known to roam much further than that when the populations increase.

That is true. We have one that usually comes thought the ranch once a yr. Stays down on the river. I've never seen him/her but that side of the ranch is void of deer while its in the area. Usually sticks around a couple of weeks.

After reading all the articles I could find. It doesn't seem like a legitimate sighting and I highly doubt it gets confirmed by TP&W

It’s not that they are that dangerous it the perceived danger of them. Hell look how many grown men are scared of feral hogs and every snake they see.

It wasn't a confirmed sighting. A city employee even posted that "a city employee saw it. That's our confirmation "

We had adults telling us since we were pups that when they sent underwater welders to the bottom of the dam in PK lake they saw catfish the size of cars………. Naw

If there were as many cats in that area as that warden said, people woukd see them on game cams all the time. Too much tech out there these days to hide some giant pride of mountain lions in one area of Texas
