This thread is for anyone who wants to share info on current fishing conditions on Grapevine lake. Please be positive, helpful, and I encourage even the smallest tip is helpful to others. I started this information sharing data to help others get their kids on the fish.

For reference. See the previous four years posts. If you dig, you will find pretty much every gps coordinate on the lake that I fish. Someone collected the waypoints and compiled them in the 2024 thread, if you dig you will be rewarded.

Gob Bless us, and I hope we all have a safe year.

Prosise

(Tuesday Morning) I did cross paths with sandbass next to Twin coves marina on the right side, i think they are spawning near the buoy before you get to the dock by the restaurant. In the morning I was slow rolling a large spinnerbait out on the rocks at the mouth, and caught a mess of big sandbass & catfish. Shad spawn is near, I have not seen them dancing on the waters edge, but they are along the banks "possibly getting ready".

Look for the birds along the deeper Rocky banks, and run a bait down the rocks at first light.

The White Herons on the bank are a major road sign as where to fish !

Nice job

I'll be back on grapevine in May, maybe, June absolutely!

Don't eat the black bass on grapevine.

Trust me.

Me and my son fished today and caught sandbass and catfish the exact same way as last Tuesday.

Mouth of twin coves.

That last one looks like a Kentucky Bass.

2.8lb spot, and to me that is a big spot for GV. She was fat, and hadn't spawned yet.

Great spot!! I've caught a lot of spots on Grapevine and that's definitely the biggest I've seen. Not sure I've ever even caught one over two pounds. Full of eggs and shad apparently!

Got out at Murrell today. Fished from 1030-1230.

Caught My first fish on the MAL spinner. A nice 13lb buff! I swear I will eventually catch a sand bass on this. Lol

Also caught 2 dink lmb, a channel cat, and 25ish Sandies. I kept the ones over 13inches. They were tasty!

I caught everything except for the Buffalo on crankbaits. 5-20 fow. It seemed pretty busy out there for a Monday. People all over the bank, several wake boats and jet skis etc. hopefully that's not some sort of new normal on weekdays and it's just people taking off after Easter or something.

Will probably give it a shot tomorrow morning.

I fished today from 7 - 2. I put in at Meadowmere and the shad are spawning. Here is the best image I have.

I have had good luck at Murrell flats so headed there first. I caught a few fish, it was slow but steady. The boat next to me was catching more than I was. There was another boat in the area as well. The fish were decent size. I gave it some time and decided to check other spots.

Twin Coves was a bust for me - I didn't have a spinner bait with me to try but was not seeing any fish on the sonar. The humps north of the crusher held a few fish but not enough to make it worth staying. Headed to a couple of brush piles for crappie and managed to catch a nice sandie when a school swam through. By now it was after 10.

I headed to Murrell as checking later in the morning produced fish last week. I got there and there were no boats so thought I was out of luck. Fished for a few minutes and it was slow. Then the birds started working the shad right in front of the cove. I eased down there and there were shad jumping all over. Most casts caught a fish using a MAL lure. This lasted for 40 minutes or so. During that time the birds did move South/West and I followed them. A lot of these fish were small but there were some nice fish mixed in with them. Best guess is 2/3 were short and the rest were keepers. By 11:15 fishing had slowed down.

I checked the island and sandbass point and found no fish. I checked a few more brush piles and headed to the ramp.
