It's not really. A 40 year old shouldn't be paying $7k per year for a policy that only covers catastrophic items. Maybe if I was 55 or 60...
Been paying for 20 years...never once have I gotten more out of insurance than I paid them in premiums
This was true for me until I turned 62. Last year I paid $4,744 for insurance that paid out $19,183. For sure. Like I said, insurance should go up quite a bit when you start needing it. Young folks don't hardly need insurance and I wish someone had told me when I was 20 that it was a complete waste of money for 2 decades. I already told my daughter and son not to take insurance at age 20 unless things change drastically. Just pay for the $100 urgent care visit when you need it and you'll be $150k ahead by the time you turn 35. I'm not saying you are wrong because I would of certainly saved a lot of money to this point in life(46), but what's the plan for some horrific accident or major medical disaster?
