Supposedly he is retiring from competitive fishing at the end of this year. Says he’s been fishing for 40 years, dang I’m getting old.

Is he in the top 20 of all time for professional anglers??? Top 30?

Does anyone care if he retires, does anyone here buy his branded equipment?

Well, he is in the BASS Hall of Fame with an ‘07 AOY, ‘07 Classic runner up, and an ‘09 Classic……winning an AOY puts you in the top 50. Winning an AOY and a Classic puts you in the top 25. I have one of his branded Crankbait rods and it is the whippiest, bendy rods I own….used it once and it has sat in the garage untouched since.

my fishing partner fished with Skeet as a no boater several years ago...said he was great guy to fish with, and both got a good check that day...I met skeet after the tourny and he seemed to be a really nice and unassuming type guy...

Fished with him as a non-boater on Wheeler about 25 years ago. The guy works hard - think he was on the water at 4 a.m. Not too bad of a guy considering he is from California roflmao

Skeet is retiring at the right time. He's been doing OK on MLF, came close to winning a few as well. In BASS he laid down some impressive numbers. He now has his own rod lineup, with pros, and TV commercials to sell. Good luck to Skeet with his retirement, he earned it.

I have known Skeet for years and way before he started fishing major tournaments , he is a nice guy and he is a great family man. Good luck in your future plans.

He just sort of faded away already... I know that will ruffle some feathers, but... Good for him... Retirement is a wonderful thing... I'll bet he stays active in the left coast tournament scene... Dan

12 wins, 8 at BASS 14 seconds at BASS
I doubt 20 have done better, certainly not 30

He should have more AOYs than he does, bass had that stupid AOY bracket playoff deal for a few years like Nascar does now. In his prime he was as good as there was even better than KVD in short stints.

He was always fun to watch. I liked his original yellow rods. I caught an 8 foot alligator on the yellow flipping stick on a frog with 80 lb braid, and the rod did too good of a job. I was hoping it would break so the line would break... lol after about 10 minutes fighting the thing, the hook on my spro frog finally broke. hahaha Then about 2 months later my little boy slammed the tail gate on the rod, and it broke. I have no idea how good the new ones are, but I sure did like that flipping stick!

Skeet was one of the best. EVER. Handled himself like a true professional. Until he did that dancing commercial with his daughter 😆
