Has anyone tried using a HydroWave with the thumper module? Does it work? Although I did not try the HydroWave brand, I have experimented with "canned" sound run through a speaker (both a submerged speaker and one out of the water projecting downward through the hull). Neither worked nearly as well as physically making contact with the hull (floor) of the boat when it comes to drawing hybrid and whites (which I have accomplished through the years via a rubber mallet (thanks, Dean Stovall), a large diameter pine dowel with a tennis ball on the end (thanks, Jason Weisberg), and, now a 12V thumper of my own design (thanks, Rube Goldberg). I offer on-the-water sonar training courses and have had the opportunity to speak with many (mainly) largemouth bass anglers about their take on their HydroWave devices. Most feel it will draw fish closer to the boat when small, schoolie largemouth bass are chasing shad on the surface in the summer. Otherwise, the consensus I've gathered from them is that the device doesn't help beyond that.

Thank you very much for your answer. I have a 12-volt thumper but never has seemed to help. It is on an aluminum hull, which I cannot get to the very bottom of the floor. I have tried moving it around, any suggestions?

Perhaps if you included photos showing your thumper's current position on the floor of your boat, as well as other photos of the rest of your boat's floor, this collection of anglers on the forum could make some suggestions.

I'd put it in one of those lower floor compartments. Should be fairly easy to wire in a plug-in receptacle there.

If your thumper has its own dedicated battery inside your thumper box, I would get a keyless remote for it. That’s how I have mine set up and I can move my thumper anywhere in my boat and still use the remote to turn it on and off. No re-wiring necessary to do that method.

Thanks for the suggestions. I may buy a battery to move it down where the tackle boxes are.

From what I can see you have it sitting right on top of or very close to one of the stringers that hold the floor above the hull. That will produce a sharp tone that doesn’t mimic the sound that the fish will respond to well. One of the best places to put it that would produce the best sound vibrations that the fish will respond to most favorably is under the console or a compartment above the hull so it will produce a deeper bass drum echo. The platform it sits on should be a few inches above the hull. In the exact center of the boat is usually best. It’s preferable to have it sitting on the floor you walk on not on the hull. Sometimes the storage compartment in the back are elevated a few inches above the hull and that will work fine.

An inexpensive lithium battery has powered my BOBO thumper for over 8 years ! Works like a champ and very light weight .
