Season is still early, Astros playing a tick under 500. I thought they got a good deal with the Kyle Tucker trade. But may take a while to get guys like Cam Smith to where they need to be. My gut says their run of top of their division may be over for a couple years. They have a few players getting long in the tooth too.
Be interesting to see how they do. I don’t have a clue how good pitching and bull pen will be.
What ya think.
Thanks, Billy

Not very good in my opinion and I'm a lifelong Astros fan. I think they have one of the worst GMs in baseball.
The offense is terrible so far, hitting .219 as a team last I saw. Starting pitching is Valdez, Hunter Brown, and hoping after them. The bullpen is strong if they can get the lead after 7 innings, but that's a big if.
I don't think anyone in the AL West is a juggernaut, so it's possible they could squeak out another division title if everything breaks just right for them.

Offensively they are horrible so far. Valdez is either really good or not, just doesn't seem to have strikeout pitch right now. The bullpen is meh at best although Hader has been pretty good lately. The defense doesn't seem that good either. I'm not sure what the heck Walker was doing last night at 1st base he could catch a cold.
.500 team at best

They are playing good ball tonight. Somebody taught the Astros first baseman that came off the bench how to play baseball. He gave a clinic on how to slide! The slide into second was slick but the slide to the place should make highlight reels.
Thanks, Billy

They shut out the Blue Jays 7-0 and are at 500. If the offence stays alive the Stros could keep it interesting in the West. If the bats go cold and stay cold, it will be a very long season. I personally like Tucker and wish he was still on the team. Just my

Finally got a look a Forrest Whitley. Pitched 8 & 9th innings, outed all batters. Good fastball and a snappy breaking ball. Fingers crossed he will be the consistent closer we need !

They have some good pitching that could get a lot better as the seasons moves along. Offense is iffy but getting better maybe they can be more competitive and stay close to division leaders. I have been a fan since they were the Colt .45s and stay a fan. GO ASTROS!!!

.500 team at best but Valdez has never been a strikeout pitcher. he is know as a ground ball pitcher. meaning batters hit a lot of easy ground outs. and he gets alot of double plays from the infield also

What ya think. April 22, 2024 Stros were 7-16 last year. This year 11-11. Traditionally they have a slow start to the season. Lot of new faces. Future will tell on the Tucker trade but 1 year of control was left and that was upgraded to 14 years of control with Parades (3) Wesneski (5) and Cam Smith ( 6). Something we really needed with the lack of depth in the farm system. Top of the line-up, or what was, Alverez, Diaz and Wallker very slow starts. AL West should be interesting with no clear favorite until we get past some of the AL West head to head series. It will be entertaining. Injuries and trades at the deadline - X factors for all. Go Stros!!!

They have been fun to watch last few games. But sitting in my garage with mini split AC running drinking cold beer is fun even with the TV off!
They play at 6:40 today. I’ll turn the AC on about 6:00 and make sure 4 or 5 beers are good and cold. Retirement is rough!
Thanks, Billy
