the point is that if there is a black buoy there,it is marking the edge of the channel or a shallow area and it should be safe to run outside the buoy..............we had this situation several years ago when corps. of engineers quit maintaining buoys on Eufuala (Al.) fortunately the Mayor of Eufaula is tournament fisherman and he was able to convince corps officials to maintain and keep buoys in correct position to mark channels in Eufaula and I'm told they have done pretty good job....

I don't have an issue with the Corps marking channels, but if they don't it is the boat driver's responsibility to operate the boat safely. It's not the Corps fault this wreck happened. If people can't operate a boat on a lake that doesn't have safety buoys every 100 feet, then they should not be on that lake driving a boat.

If he struck something below the surface then he truly wasn't paying attention... If the object was that close to the surface you can see it in the water changing colors... This guy is a buddy trying to change the narrative... The lake I live on has numerous long points and humps that come within a few feet of the surface. You can see them a mile away because the water changes color, in some cases there's mudlines visible... Dan

Not only that but today you can colorize your maps on the graph and adjust for lake fluctuations . If you are running a modern boat as most of those guys are there is no reason to run aground on a lake like that u less you simply aren’t paying attention.

I see boats run shallow flats every time on the lake and they act like they don’t know they are there- look at how many keel marks you see on your side imaging - some dudes should be planting crops the way they till that stuff up.

I'll run shallow flats on the Ohio River because I know there's nothing there but silt and sand that was deposited there during the last flood... We've marked all the stumps with fence post that stick well above the water level... Now I'd never do that on my home lake or any lakes in my area because those long points and humps are made of rocks and boulders... Having never been on that body of water, but driving through the area the topography reminds me of Kentucky and Tennessee so I'd guess it's similar to Dale Hollow, Cumberland, Norris, Cherokee and Douglas, deep, semi clear with some long rocky points and humps... I'd never cut a point or run across flats on any of those lakes because you'd probably lose a lower unit... I'd say he'd have run that route a few times in practice and tourney days, he knew where the danger spots are...

And as far as the guide boat goes, he was either trolling or dropping bait on a school of stripers... They do it here on Norris all the time... Big engine off, trolling motor running at a constant speed dragging the bait or using the trolling motor to stay on top of the school while you vertically fish for them... Dan

that doesn't work in stained water or low light conditions...

So the boat driver who killed 3 guys, who were just on a fishing trip with a guide, is saying it's not his fault?

Was it Karmellon Anthony driving?

Well, the incident we're all talking about neither was an issue... Dan

I haven't heard anything about the driver speaking of this accident , I think its all speculation so far .

Still don't see where the driver is saying "it isn't his fault" as you stated.
