I remember watching Faces of Death in college. In Egypt they brought in live monkeys to a cage in the table. They cracked the head open after hitting the monkey in the head to kill it and ate the brains out of the skull. Now that’s nasty.

Anybody else ever heard of eating squirrel brains?

This is definitely one of those "who in the world thought of this first" things.

I was telling my neighbor about that movie and that scene the other day. She didn't believe me.

Pressure cookers no longer in vogue - folks probably using Insta-pots or air fryer now.

My mom would fight you over squirrel heads. I've tasted them but found them unappealing. Fried young gray squirrel is probably my favorite food in the world. A big platter of fried squirrel, rice with brown gravy, a chunk of raw onion and a biscuit with Steen's syrup for desert. My for sure last meal choice!

Grandfather had a champion squirrel dog.

Pick up a shot gun and he was off to the races.

It was a lot of fun but it was also dinner…

When I was a kid spent a lot of time in Arkansas, Squirrel brains and calf brains were on the menu a few times a week.

I was at a gathering in my youth and they served up squirrel stew. The old timers would fish around in the huge cast iron caldron to find a head. Pop the skull with a spoon then eat the brains out.
