My DL has that gold star.

Pulled my inspection sticker off my windshield. The sticker stuck to a magnet.

You wouldn't believe how old it was. I've been riding dirty. 4 years olds. It's in all how you drive.


Now. Texas has granted US some freedom from reasonable suspicion.

It's a 20 year old law that is just now being implemented, I don't think Trump has anything to do with it. I never heard of it until I moved a few months ago and had to get a new drivers license. In some states, it's optional. You only need to pay extra for the Real ID to fly on an airline, you can still drive a car with a cheaper basic DL.

do we really think they are just now watching us, or keeping up with what we buy, or where we are going with GPS on our phones and cars.

come on folks they started after 9/11 and never quit. They used a bad deal to watch us under the guise of protecting us

I renewed my driver's license last may It the old one had a gold star. The lady at the DMV told me that was the OLD gold star. My new license has the NEW gold star.

When I renewed my DL 10-12 years ago the lady asked if I wanted the Real ID... She explained it was something in the works and one day you'd need on the fly among other thing... Said sure... Left with one that day... When we moved 2 years ago to Tennessee the lady was very surprised I had one... Redid for the Tennessee DL and they gave you a piece of paper saying the new Real ID would arrive in the mail... Dan

Wyoming rolled them out years ago, no issues.
Some idiots couldn't get their papers right to get one, WDOT thanked me for having everything I needed. In and out the door in minutes.

I dragged my feet on this for years. Submitted my docs/application online last weekend, showed up to the DMV without an appointment on Monday (showed up really early), and I was out in a few minutes. I hate government, but people have literally had since 2005 to navigate this.

I have a friend that doesn't have a DL. Long story about why not. He can't get on an airplane. He doesn't fly, that I know of, but now he really can't.

My DL has had the star since 2020. Never paid it any mind. Figuring it a security feature. Never knew it was such a big deal.

I’ve had a real ID for years. It’s not a Trump thing like was mentioned above. I’m ok with the govt knowing who I am. I have nothing to hide. They have been saying it’s coming now for years and delayed it numerous times over COVID. If you run out of time, it’s your fault, plenty of opportunity to get it taken care of before now.
