Going to fish it for the first time, club tournament. Is there anything I need to watch out for? Tree's, stumps, or ?? Lake is down 4 feet, looking forward to new water. TIA

On main lake, flats with flooded pecan trees (in red). I idle only in those areas.

There are trees in weird places that you would not expect, and many are just below the surface. Stick to the river channel, which is fairly narrow and winds all over the damn place. I have been learning the lake the last few months, and with some common sense I have been okay, but more than once I have been cruising and suddenly see a tree top were it isn't "supposed" to be right under the surface. Good luck in the tourney and stay safe!

I've been learning it as well over the past 6-8 months and like as indicated. Follow the river channel as your path and you should be fine. The only caveat is that I shut down and idle at the big bend in the river channel before the bridge to the upper river area.

IMO it’s a tough lake, tons of pressure all day, every day and the lack of grass can make for challenging days. Are there fish and good ones being caught - yes. But IMO it’s not like it was and the amount of traffic makes it challenging some days…. My two cents

Let's just say that it is in a "down cycle" right now. To be saved, it needs to hold it's current level or higher and the grass needs time to come back to proper infestation. Then, give it a couple of years in that state, and the fish will start to get big again. Will all this happen? Not likely. More likely that it will become like another Lake Travis with a million little fish in it. The fish are smart, it gets a ton of fishing pressure, but that is probably a good thing. I think it is the best lake within reasonable distance of Georgetown/Round Rock area for bass fishing though, with our current state of affairs. Hopefully we figure out how to start pumping water from other parts of the country like we do with natural gas and oil, and then we can take from the places that are flooding and send it to the drought condition places. I know, wishful thinking...there ain't enough money in it!
