Why would they put just a 13-15โ slot on this lake, I guess they just wanna protect that size fish and spots donโt really get that big. I thought a lot of lakes around the country are copying Texas slot lake management.

If you look at the freshwater limits and exceptions page in the tpwd outdoor annual there are a bunch of weird slots/limit for various species in the state. I think sometimes the state biologist do this just to study the effects the regulations make on their electro fishing surveys. They have removed slots on many lakes over the years where they saw no effect.

Should be interesting to see the difference in the weights between today and tomorrow! I guess this a best 5 format from looking at the leaderboard?

I think it helps some lakes, others like a few around me that the slots been removed it absolutely didn't help. It probably helped lots more 30 to 40 years ago when catch and release wasn't as practiced.

Fork. Mille Lacs. Two of the best lakes in the country. Day after day, year after year, heavily fished, heavily managed. I do agree that sometimes it seems unnecessary.
