Anywhere on the lake to get a chip for boat lanes? Heading down for a week and would like to run up the Kickapoo.

Tom Wayne's lanes are downloadable and I believe he has the only ones available. They are pretty spot on,but I'd probably launch up there and idle in instead of running. Even with "lanes", it is not if you hit something - it's when.

Just launch up there. It may or may not be your type of fishing. spend a day up there and see if the fish are biting. The other end of the lake can fish like a completely different thing. There are only a handful of places to run up there.

Get Tom’s boat lanes and launch at the bridge, but idle. I’ve fished up there a bunch and broke 2 props. If the lake level is low, gets a little dicey!

That lake has the most stumps and trees that I have ever seen. I booked a guide off here and fished it. caught a lot of fish but there's no way i would ever use my own boat on that lake. This dude knew all the lanes and we still "rolled over" nonstop stumps north of that bridge.

I bought the chip down loaded and all I seen was skull and cross bones. Lol. Never been and will be on the lake 20th-24th. Scared. Going to work ledbetter and south first day or two.

There is no "run up" in Kickapoo. Idle ONLY. Just getting across the old roadbed can be tricky in low water.
Ledbetter and Highsaw Cove are good coves. I can't find the picture from a few years ago I took of one of my club members in Highsaw with one over 9. It beat my 8+ for big bass. The one I caught was also in Highsaw not more than 200 feet from him.
I have fished Kickapoo many times but it is a beating for sure. Another cove to avoid (due to many stumps) is Flat Cove.

+1 on Flat Creek, I feel like it’s a higher risk of breaking stuff than Kickapoo. Just my opinion

Yea you’re not just “running up the Kickapoo”. You’d be better off staying south of the bridge if you don’t know your way around up there.

My suggestion would be to stay down south and catch all the pesky spotted bass you can catch. Just take them with you when you leave.
