Was around Highport 4/12 and 4/13 at sunup throwing swimbaits. Got a few very small striper (10-12in), 1 smallmouth (2lb or so), and about 10 real nice sandbass (biggest was 14-15in). Saturday was better than Sunday, the wind was brutal... All fish were within 10 ft of the bank around medium to large underwater rocks (2-3ft water), all released. Throwing to deep water with bigger swimbaits got nada, so I downsized (3/8oz head, 2.5-3in body) this was the ticket. Was not gangbusters but was fun.
Saturday had big gizzard shad running all along the shore (10 in or so) with some rolling around in 6in of water, tails and fins sticking out, and saw quite a lot of threadfin rolling on the rocks outside Highport - Sunday, I think the wind blew them out so saw nothing.
