I went once 10 years ago or so and never went back. Water looked like watery diarrhea. Caught fish, but they were skinny and not too healthy looking.
With FFS you can prob catch them off the main creek channel in the timber

Don’t believe everything you read on here….some are just protecting the lake like.
Last couple years it has rebounded nicely. Some big fish have come out this year.

We gave it our best shot. My brand new Eale Eye 9 pooped the bed right at the start, so that made navigation tough. I caught 9, my bro zero. Two on a red Jackhammer and the rest finesse on a 2.8 Bellows Gill on a Ned head. Biggest was 4 plus, the rest were 1 lb clones but all were very healthy. The recent storms blew a lot of wood into the shallows. I lost count of the big trees that had blown over on the bank, unfortunately the wrong direction. Also unfortunately it is still chocalate mud hole. Probably 10 trailers at the ramp, but most of them were Yakkers.

The crazy thing about TPWD ruining this lake, there was no homeowners complaining about the grass.

My last time I went there it was just like Douglas J said, "like watery diarrhea". However I did not catch a single fish. A buddy caught a true Share a Linker there in the mid-90's that was the lake record for all of about two weeks and someone broke it.

I've got a 12.12 on the wall from Fork. I was fishing Purtis back in the day with my wife and a friend. I was throwing a sluggo by the island. I made a long cast, that was my mistake. I got a bite and set the hook. She came out of the water over halfway, we all 3 saw her. Because of the long cast i apparently didn't get a good hook set. made my 12.12 look small. My partner swore she was over 15 or 16 easily. I still have nightmares. Curtis will always be in my mind.

My son and I used to fish there pretty often in mid 80s to early 90s. I had a little bass buster boat and we would have days that people wouldn’t believe. It was fairly common to catch 8 fish that were 6+ pounds plus a bunch of 3-4 pounds. I usually fished with an orange/green Woodchopper and tear them up…all day long on Topwater on cloudy days. I haven’t been there 30 years so I’ll just hang onto my good memories.
