I'm going to ask a fishing question in the OT if that's OK? A small group of folks at church have been going fishing together here lately. Different locations and just want to catch something. Today's trip was somewhere on Granbury and they caught their first fish. Actually caught 2. A small crappie and a good size catfish. All fishing is from the bank. Given the time of year, the catfish should be about ready to spawn I'm thinking. So, if you were going to be bank fishing somewhere with a small group, within an hour drive of north Richland Hills/ Hurst, where would you go? Be specific on exact location on where on a lake, river etc, and what species of fish would you target. Thanks everyone.

If you look up the ponds that get stocked with trout, they usually have a good fishing environment, and generally grow some good size cat fish which get fat off the dying trout each year. In the winter time, I would also recommend fishing for trout for a couple of weeks after the stocking.
No one is gonna tell you where they found bank fish biting.

Any bridge you can get to should hold crappie on the pilings.

I'd hit up Marine Creek Lake by TCJC NW campus, there was SAL caught out of there.
Benbrook has some good fishing and pretty well accessible from everywhere. Proabably have to do some walking, so watch out for Sneks.
Ft. Worth Nature Center, but I think they cancelled shore fishing because of the gators. If you do go there, take a midget, they can't run as fast and will get eaten first, allowing you to escape.
Crazy as it sounds, I've had some good luck on the Trinity river. Took an old friend there who had never been fishing. First cast ever, he caught a bass.

Channel cat will spawn closer to the end of May. Right now, the bait fish are just showing up shallow. Either catch some perch on worms or better yet throw a net and get them. Live bait never fails.
