Decided to double dip this week and fish a second day since the wind looks not so great next week. Also needed to have the boat in the water to try & diagnose an issue with the electronics. After an hour, even the Hummingbird guy threw in the towel. Can't get the transducer to ping to the unit...frustrating. Also got inspected by the Game Warden...so there was that...interesting day. The lake was really not as busy as I thought it would be with the manageable winds...maybe 15 truck/trailers in the parking lot when I got there.

The fishing...Fished 10 am to 6:30 pm. The bass bite was slow, but did manage to get 8 in the boat...no bigs, but a solid 3 & 4 pounder felt good. Now for the best news & highlight of the day. Searched 5 areas for sunfish & finally found a real good pod at my 3rd stop. Ended up catching around 40-50 before all said and done. And... these were all quality fish with many going close to a pound & the biggest going over a pound. All caught on Gulp Alive 1" minnows in the chartreuse color.. I love finding these guys early before the meat hunters get there & wipe out the big ones. I wish there were some regulations for sunfish, but that's another story. It can only get better from here...In the last 2 trips I have checked out 9 different areas & only found the one spot to hold fish. It should improve each week that goes by...All fish released to spawn & fight another day...

Nice going Steve. Glad to see they are starting their spawn. Couldn't make it out there this week due to other commitments but I did fish a couple of half days at Bastrop.

Chuck...So why is it that every time I catch a sunfish over there that YOUR name comes up...They always talk about the "record guy". They say...please keep that "record guy" off the lake!
