The video showed the rotor head missing (blades, yokes, grips etc.) and most of the tail boom gone. Looks like maybe the main rotor chopped off the tail boom and then departed the aircraft. It would take an almost unimaginable flight upset to cause that. Or a big mechanical failure.
Past performance is the best predictor of future behavior...

It would take an almost unimaginable flight upset to cause that. Or a big mechanical failure. Depends on the type of chopper. There was a helicopter that fell out of the sky in Rowlett, ~3 years ago. The student pilot put it in the wrong attitude and that is exactly what happened. The main blades cut the boom off and it fell like a rock. Right on Hwy 66 across from the Walmarx.

Been in several helicopters. All of them made me nervous there’s no gliding in a copter.

Been in several helicopters. All of them made me nervous there’s no gliding in a copter. They glide better than you think. Cant do an autorotation without a tail or main rotor system though.
