What advice would you give to a buddy that is about to marry a "chick" he's never met in person and only through the internets?

I am rather sure it is an elaborate catfish scheme but he is dead set on going through with it.

We have already seen a drastic change in his behavior and he has been very distant the last few weeks.

Any and all advice welcome.

Addendum - He is just moving her in from out of state somewhere this weekend but I am sure it will lead to marriage.

You really can’t give any advice until you see the girl in person. Once you do, you’re either high fiving him or kidnapping him to get him out of a bad situation.

When people are emotional, they will not respond positively to emotional arguments; they will only dig deeper.

Calmly explain the facts of all marriages.
More than 50% of them fail
Marriage is expensive
Marriage is time consuming
Marriage requires an enormous commitment and hard work for success.
Before you buy a car (much less expensive than marriage).....you test drive it and then consider all your options.
Before considering marriage, most people live together for a year minimum to get the full trial period.

I am not going to discuss children, or relations prior to marriage that may result in children as that is beyond the scope of the discussion......but, I would never trust anyone to remember to take preventative actions; thus, safety first and that safety step is owned by two people in a relationship.

Not much can be done when something like this is already in motion. If you value this friendship, speak the truth and be there when it goes to poop. And also be there if it turns out successful too.

Not much you can probably do. Just keep being his buddy.
If/when it all crashes and burns he'll need you for support more than likely.

Your wife is a very smart person with good communication skills. Have her talk with him also. She may also be a strong covert op to talk with the lady in question also.
Women tend to excellent at this sort of maneuvering. Men tend to try to solve dilemmas with brute force; but there are times when the more sneaky approach works better.
This may be one of those times. In general, men are not good at being sneaky.

Catfish situation-

I bet your wife has some wisdom concerning this type of thing-

What has happed to you does not define who you are-

HOW you react to what happens to you DOES!
