I’m casually cruising down I-35 at 75-80 a mile from my exit to go to the crib this morning. Semi blows a tire, the piece flies over the Tesla in front of me and boom into the grill and hood of my 2024 Tundra. $1,700 damage after leaving the body shop. Luckily I’ve been with my State Farm agent for 30 years. I call him and he asks was it airborne when it hit me or did I run over it and throw it up? I tell him it was airborne and he said go get an estimate and get it repaired and I’ll handle it through my office with your comprehensive coverage. Whatever you do don’t file a claim because the adjuster will try to classify it under collision and you’ll have to pay your deductible.

So I’m getting it fixed under comprehension with ZERO deductible. He said the adjuster would’ve tried to use all verbage to try to file under collision. Thankfully I have a great agent in Rescue Fire’s hometown of Gand Pairie, Texas. Be careful out there boys.

Glad you or the wife wasn’t injured Coach-

What has happed to you does not define who you are-

HOW you react to what happens to you DOES!

Thanks Steve but she’s not worthy of riding in my Tundra😂😂. I was actually coming back from a Dr. appt. It was pretty hairy being in the center lane and the big [censored] thread cap flying through the air. No escape right or escape left, just hold tight and stay straight.

You did good in my book. Most agents just want to sign you up for a 6 or 12 month policy and then refer you to an adjuster in some other town or state when you have a claim. Thats why I have no loyalty towards any agent or company I`ve ever dealt with. I've even told agents before when I was getting quotes that "I`m not married to none of them".

Thanks, my agent has always been good to me. That’s why I’ve stayed with him for going on 30 years. Is SF a little higher, sure but I’ve never had to worry about”if insurance is gonna fix it”. Being auto or home he’s always taken care of our needs. Apparently I pissed someone off a few years ago (not really because it happened to 3 neighbors when I lived in Grand Prairie) and I had all 4 tires slashed and two windows knocked out of my truck. I called my agent at 7:00am on a Sunday morning and told him. He said go to NTB and get 4 new tires and call Safelite and fix your windows. Then come to my office Monday morning with your receipts. I did what he told me, showed up at his office Monday morning and bam he cut me a check for the tires and windows. $50 vandalism deductible not charged. This may be common but not from friends I’ve talked to when dealing with their insurance.

At least your 24 had to hit something. My 15 Tundra ejected the grill yesterday just driving down the road. The wind caught and it went flying. I backed up, threw it in the truck, went home and shot some self tappers into it to hold it till a $90 replacement could be ordered. (It was the upper grill along the edge of the hood).

IIRC, Semi Tractors are restricted to new-build tires. Steering and Drive wheels new tires, Re-caps on trailers ONLY.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but how in God's Green Earth can the Driver be responsible for the tires on a box he/she hooked up to at his last stop????

Oh none taken, sir. Just recently had one let go while rolling down the interstate heavily loaded. Sounded like a damn canon went off and I'm sure I slung debris everywhere. Never had a tire go like that before.
