I currently have this WeatherTech AlloyCover Tonneau Cover and pretty happy with it. Its pretty easy to remove and reinstall when needed. I had a remote sliding cover prior to this but drive a lot of dirt roads and after about a year took it off due to not wanting to open/close properly for dirt getting into all the joints.

I’ve had quite a few. The Bakflip has had the fewest problems.
Plus Locks when the truck locks Doesn’t come open in 60 mph cross wind. Stays in line.
Minus Not as convenient getting to stuff in front of the bed.

Absolutely correct about the front of the bed part. Try rigging up an old broom or rake handle with a bike hanging hook. You have to pre-drill the hole or the hook will split the broomstick. This should stay in the bed permanently if you have a flip cover.

I have a diamondback on one of my trucks, I keep snake tongs in the bed and they serve their intended purpose and also do a fine job of reaching stuff up against the headwall of the truck.

It’s not like the single piece cover. Those are genuine painful.
You do have to flip it back twice, and you have access to the front. But it does get blistering hot.
I guess the bottom line is none are perfect. You’re going to compromise on something.

Mines lifted so I keep an old garden weeder thing in the bed to grab stuff from the front.

I have a backflip - got it in 2017 - operationally still in good order - has faded somewhat and a few hail dents - overall I am very pleased - didn’t recall what I paid so looked Amazon - a little pricey.
My son just recently installed a Rough Country on his pickup - very similar to backflip in appearance and operation - significantly cheaper on Amazon - my son is very pleased so far.

I bought the 13" deep crossbin for the front of my bed with the Diamondback SE, to hold the stuff that I'd had in the toolbox. I also bought a pair of Carr steps to mount to the front of the bed; with them I can access everything. Since I sold my welding machines when I moved, I have a friend making me some brackets to bolt to the frame for those steps. He's been taking his time............. Another feature I like about the Diamondback covers is that the front (both ends are on gas shocks that raise them when unlatched) has a detent that only allows it to raise a few inches until released, in case the front half accidentally opens at speed. The latch is also spring loaded so it can't open accidentally. Another great feature is that the cover is rated for 400 lbs. on top of it; that's really handy. The HD is rated for 1600 lbs. I bought extra cleats to anchor whatever I carry up top. On the Bandera trip I had a 150 qt. ice chest full of ice & venison up there. I had it secured with the cleats and it never moved.
