Used to be a FatBoy. Sold it when I moved back out to Midland. You will get crushed by oil field trucks on a bike. Not worth the risk to me out here. It was fun though! I would imagine. I've heard that the roads are pretty dangerous out there. I just bought a 2024 RG, and just got finished building it out. I'm retired 55. It's all I do. Ride, fish, over and over.

There was one year not too terribly long ago where they killed the piss out of them. I’m just saying it’s strange to me they snagged this one up
And broke their own rules. Plus the fish was yanked off a bed while In the process of spawning. We literally intervened with Mother Nature. I think that’s stupid. I get what you are saying. But would you agree, or disagree that the program does do good by spreading and strengthening the genetics in other Texas lakes. Take Lake Houston for example. Before about 1998, the bass in Lake Houston were on average small and the Tuesday night tournaments were a 35-40 boat deal and the bags were less than 15-17lbs. TPWD has made about 6 stockings of sharelunker fry in that lake and it has slowly improved. Tuesday night tournaments are now in the 19-25lb range and 8-9lb bass are not uncommon on that lake anymore.

They aren’t breeding large males with the females, they are just breeding any FL male with these fish. The program is a crock.

According to tpwd, all males are offspring of Sals and used for brooding.

If that’s what happened I would not be surprised in the least. Also the guide just got sponsored by 6th so I’m sure there is a need to push those baits real hard. When it comes to the traveling circus can you really believe anything. Wasn’t there some questions on whether that 17lbr was snagged or not a couple of years ago? You better be careful talking about Conn. He will fight you at the ramp. All 5 feet 4 of him.

Not all SAL’s are pure Florida strain.
Don’t they have to be something like 90% FL strain to be bred into the program? I remember Falcon fish being rejected because they were too much northern strain.

I was physically present twice in the 2000's when they did. 2002-2003, 2010-2013. The point of the program is to spread the genetics to all Texas lakes.
