He has conned the middle class; the middle class will carry most of the tariff burden on their backs. Who do you think has been carrying the burden? I’ll hang up and listen…

What I’ve always done. Work hard, support my family, do unto others as I would wish to be treated, do what I can to improve the lives of others, treat Mother Nature with respect, and continue to improve fitness and health. I think Bob is asking what would you do if you were president? No tariffs? Just let other countries tariff us? I honestly had no idea what I was being specifically asked as the question was generic. As I tell my wife; I never took a mind reading class at University. Now that I have clarity on the question; I would educate and stimulate the American people to live well below their means. In general, Americans live in a state of high compounding interest credit card debt. The more wealth you have saved by living frugally; the more you will have to invest in America’s future (buying low of course). The greater, and earlier these investments in our future, the more the wealth grows (at a computer fed rate). Shifting the focus of the typical American from short term consumer status symbols; to long term expanding wealth for all would make America greater. Vehicle/income or vehicle/rent or mortgage ratio is a good metric for financial literacy. Driving a $60-80k muscle car that will be worth a tiny fraction of the cost in 10 years while living in a literal [censored] hole paying RENT is something I will never understand. Too many people just live above their means. I bet half the tff lives above their means. You want to know who has been living beyond their means? Most of the rest of the world and they have done it on the backs of the tax paying Americans. The American government has lived beyond their means and they have done it on the backs of the tax paying Americans.

Unknown. Grifters (political benefactors) are manipulating the market as a slight off hand effort for numerous benefits: TDS, DOGE diversion, financial, and political gains. Do not underestimate their ability, nor willingness, to sacrifice the many for the few…

I will give my personal account of tariffs and ramifications of tariffs in the real world. I worked for a company that was part of several mergers. Early on one such was the merger between a production facility and distribution facility. I was from the production side but inherited duties on both. The distribution side had been importing for years trying to do so duty free because of Ag related products but there are strict stipulation to do so and simply put the i’s were not dotted and t’s were not crossed. This resulted in hundreds of entries being “suspended” rather that fully liquidated meaning the duty free requests were basically put on hold. Kind of a dark cloud hanging over the business since the duties would have been north of $500k. Finally there was a new US Customs director for DFW who did not like this unresolved issue. Between him, our import broker, our VP, corporate attorney, and myself we had a meeting and came to a resolution. Our attorney drafted a document confirming end use of our products that had to be presented for each import and the new DFW direction liquidated all entries at zero duty. It was a happy day. All sounds great right? Now the not so fun part begins. We are able to import duty free…BUT we supply other regions around the world. In this case we supplied S. America and also had a factory in Brazil. We sent products to Brazil and they paid substantial duty so what happens when the corporate accountants figure all this out. They shut down the part of the manufacturing side that injection molded the product and added a state of the art capital investment to the Brazil plant then had us import from Brazil…lower wages in Brazil plus no import duty in the US it was a win win for the company but the the employee’s jobs that were lost never came back. My job changed from a production manager to logistics manager. This is how it works in the real world folks and unfortunately I can actually list other examples.

Listen to what Bill Ackman says, he is a smart one. He called the covid market crash months before anyone else and got paid nicely.

I think one of the biggest problems is people don’t quite understand how all of this ties together. And I’ll put myself in that basket. I get bits and parts but I knew there was a bigger picture that myself and the average Joe doesn’t completely grasp. Who cares about a budget deficit and trade deficits and how does it affect me is the prevailing attitude and why are we doing this all now? Having my morning coffee on my back patio enjoying the rain - boom! I think this is the best explanation I’ve read. Fox News Opinion Article

This is a really good interview if you have not seen it, CNN, not Fox giving bias questions to US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.. Note in there were Wal Mart is making China lower their price to offset the tariff, it is what I mentioned in my earlier post. Again we are playing hardball now. And Wal-mart is a good example of American companies playing hardball too.
