Well wawi I'll make it simple for you....I would have preferred to get the dividends/profits I was counting on from some specific funds/stocks. But the orange doofus with his tariff cr*p was tanking those stocks/funds I had been counting on. So I cashed out while the getting was good, left 2% in some funds that had I cashed them out would have cost me money I wasn't willing to lose at the moment.
Folks can defend trump and his actions all they want. I don't or want to gamble right now that his "plan", such as it is, will benefit me in my retirement. I'll sit on the sidelines for 6 months and see what happens.

Literally the worst time to sit out. Time is now here to get in

And here all of us thought it was crazy for Elizabeth Warren and Democrats to talk about unrealized gains because...well because they aren't real until securities are sold. They are only gains on paper.
The same goes for losses.
At some point the price of any stock or security has to be based on underlying intrinsic value, on fundamentals. Otherwise all we're really talking about is buying and selling baseball cards or stamps. Their values are only based on sentiment, on what people think they might be worth until they can sell them to the next guy who thinks they might be worth more.

Everyone complains but i havent seen anyone offer another plan. how about leave everything alone we have been in a good place as long as i can remember It’s been a long time false high- I don’t know why any American thinks we should pay high tariffs to other countries and we not charge them a tariff in return. Please do some research and find out how tariffs work. Americans have never paid other countries tariffs. Other countries charge their citizens a tariff to buy American imports.

In order for American imports to stay price competitive, they must lower their price to off-set the tariff, so effectively America companies pay for that tariff which hits American profits and ripples to American citizens. The alternative is what you say, let the other country citizens pay, in which case American imports are not price competitive in that country, so it won't sell, that hits American profits and ripples to American citizens. So, we need to tariff them too.

Governments started tariffs to "help" the companies in their country, to give them a competitive advantage (makes them lazy and inefficient with less competition), and also tax revenues in the government's pockets (crooks). Tariffs are a bad idea to give your country a competitive advantage. But if a country tariffs us, we need to tariff them back.
You can bet though Trump will return all Tariff revenues back to American citizens in the form of tax cuts, in addition to cost cuts he is making.
American is the economic world engine, the demand for goods come from our country, we have the leverage here. This could be huge, I got my finger crossed. America is playing hard ball now.

Yes, it’s a consumer tax. If you don’t buy anything, you don’t pay the tariff. An old loophole that multinational corporations use is to shift their purchasing chain. For example, USA multinational businesses will import more though neighboring country (Mexico/Canada) warehouses……or if someone lives in Erie Pennsylvania or Laredo Texas, they will start driving across the border to do their grocery and housewares shopping.

What I’ve always done. Work hard, support my family, do unto others as I would wish to be treated, do what I can to improve the lives of others, treat Mother Nature with respect, and continue to improve fitness and health.

I think Bob is asking what would you do if you were president? No tariffs? Just let other countries tariff us?

Great non answer. Complain but offer no alternative. I'm good so screw those that aren't. Seems the prevailing view here. Trump has said this was his plan for decades. Hes fighting for the middle class and fulfilling his promises. He's only been in office 3 months and everyone thinks all should be perfect immediately. I for one will pray for his success.
