There are at least 10 generations of her off spring already swimming around in that lake. Its not like this is the first spawn she has ever seen.

TPWD breaking their own rules and now part of the traveling circus. At this point they should just drain Ivie and see what lives in it And they wonder why SAL entries are down, I know of two there were not turned in this year and released back.

if that fish gets to live in an Aquarium, it will be living its best life. Will get feed daily and get year-round care. The guy that caught it can do with it as he pleases. It is his fish. I hope he would not eat it but again it is his fish.
My son lives in Indiana and comes down here to fish for big bass. In Texas, we have some of the best bass fishing in the world. You can go to any lake, and you might catch a 13lber.
I can only control me and can't worry about what other say or do in life.

No sir , JESUS is my rock and grown men taking the Lord's name in vain and using wtf over a fish is a major issue. IMO, 16-17 pounds is the ceiling for what Texas lakes can grow. Even in highly intensively managed privates lakes in Texas we have yet to see an 18 pound fish produced. It gets too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter here. We typically see water temps in the high 30's in the winter and 90's in the summer. That 60 degree delta shortens the life of the bass. Plus we don't have trout stockings.
The trout stocking program was the primary reason we saw 20+ pound fish from Cali. Their growing season is also MUCH longer than ours. I've fished Casitas & Castaic and the water temp in those 2 lakes never drops below 50 in the winter and never climbs above 80 in the summer. That mild climate prolongs the life expectancy there so the bass live longer.
You notice we haven't heard about any giants from Cali in the past 5 yrs. My guess is the the Cali DNR ran out of money and the trout stockings ceased. They are too busy out there trying to provide water to put out fires because they are so worried about saving a couple species of trout or some stupid salamander.
California grew giants bass over 20 pounds due to the climate and the trout. The state of Cali wasn't even trying to grow trophy bass.

There's so much truth in this thread. CA has quit stocking trout, with exceptions to those lakes in the higher elevation where trout thrive. Those lakes have been close to being drained due to drought, that the big bass have all but died. Cali DNR are focusing on the "environment" more than the actual resources. They've put focus on building the reservoirs that need it due to diminishing water levels. San V was closed for well over 10 years to "fix" the dam. Now they are doing the same thing to Hodges. Head N where they have limited water due to massive populations. LA lakes have all but become mud holes. Cali DNR is focusing on the wildlife that use this and not the fishery it once was. Let's head even further N, where lakes like Bullard, Castaic, Malones, etc. They were so low, many Marinas shuttered. Boats and docks sat out of water for several years. Many got the water, to help fill them, but they didn't prepare for this which caused more damage. They have the weather to make it happen, but they focus on the rare gnat whose life is less than 24 hours versus creating epic fisheries.

COngratulations on the bohemoth bass!! Once in a lifetime catch! Not a fan of removing it from the lake, but it is your fish to do what you wish. Just know it will never be caught again. Eventually, OH Ivie will not be the great lake it once was, due to humanity.
