I am looking for a self-propelled mower for around the house and found this one at Tractor Supply. It's a Troy Built TB230C with a commercial grade TB engine. Around $460 OTD. Anybody have any experience with it. It's a new model for 2025.

I have one of those that is around 15yrs old. All the gas leaks out of it everytime I put it up, but that turned out to be a plus when sitting over winter. It starts on the 1st or 2nd try every time.

Isn't a TB engine just a rebadged Briggs?

Looks solid. I would get the mulching feature. I hate bagging and hauling.

I'd probably look at a honda first.

Those prices! I'm changing oil in my Honda this weekend. It's going to have to last a while.

smile Hence the Troy Bilt. I've had a real Husky (lawnmower and bike) and a Honda (just the lawn mower). Nice machines for sure. The price these days is a bit more than what I want to pay.

This.....I bought mine 2 years ago at a dealer that sells and services Honda for north of 800 $ out the door for a top of the line model. I don't mind paying for quality. I was actually looking for a replacement for my 18 yo Snapper mower. Based on how it is built I expect to get at least that much time out of it.

I have a Honda HRX217VKA for 5 seasons. Very good mower, but not as good as the Snapper Hi-Vak I bought back in 1992. That mower could suck a Big Mac thru a screen door..
