What is your opinion on the best rod, reel, and line configuration for catching white bass?

For me, and for casting it’s a 2500 series spinning reel, 7’ medium backbone rod, spooled with 12 lb, braid and 4’ leader of 10 lb flourcarbon

What is your opinion on the best rod, reel, and line configuration for catching white bass? I have 2 extremes on my boat. Guess are handed a Walmart price 6.6 Ugly Stik combo with GX235 reel. I use a Lew's Laser MG 6 ft 10 in MH Speed Spool Casting Both have 20-30lb high vis(yellow or orange) braid.

The question is how and where? Creeks in the spring and rivers I fish for them I’m using 4 lb test with a 4 lb leader, no lures over 1/16 oz, and usually a small split shot with a wild caught shiner. 7.5’ ultralight. Same setup I use for crappie, walleye, black bass, and striper in the same scenarios. Main lake, I always like a medium action rod, 6-8 lb test, and then usually a 5/8 oz slab spoon (smallest one my mold will make), with a small curly tail grub or fluke just above it.

Spinning, braided line (10lb), 7ft fast light rod. Casts farther than mono & flouro with great line abrasion resistance. I will tie a 4ft 10lb flouro leader to the braid just because i do it for all my bass setups. 2000 or 2500 size spinning reel.

Spinning, braided line (10lb), 7ft fast light rod, with a 4ft 10lb fluorocarbon leader tied to the braid, and 1000 Shimano spinning reel.

ROD: St. Croix Eyecon EYS63MLXF spinning rods, 6-feet, 3-inches long w/ an extra-fast tip. Link to Eyecon RodREEL: 1000-series Florida Fishing Products’ Bahia spinning reel (it's a small, tough, smooth saltwater reel just right for whites) Link to Bahia Reel LINE/LEADER: Sufix 832 Advanced Superline. This is a braided line in 10-pound-test. Color is really based on your preference. All of my rods terminate with a segment of 25-pound-test Sufix InvisiLine fluorocarbon leader material, so the fish never really see the braided line. Link to Braid

I use a 7ft med-light rod with a 1000 spinning reel with 4-6lb test. Rowlett creek sandies are a bit different so I use 2lb line with 1 inch baits.

I've got a few 6' 6" rods with Shimano bait casting reels loaded with 10 lb test Seaguar Invisix fluorocarbon line. I've also got a 7' spinning rod with Pflueger President spinning reel loaded with 10 lb test braid for light lures.

Any 6.6' medium-heavy action casting rod I can pick up on sale for $25 or under (some call it a worm rod). Any Shimano or ABU low profile reel I can pick up on sale for under $50. 10 lbs flourocarbon. Before you buy a set up you have to decide if you are buying to catch fish, or are you buying a set up to try and impress other fisherman?
