Just fished this weekend in my 8 year old Simms Challenger suit (non-insulated) during a pretty solid rain, and was absolutely drenched. Water bled through the bibs and jacket after the first hour of fairly light rain.
I need a new set of Bibs & Jacket that’s non-insulated What do you use? I need some opinions! Thanks

I have a set of Columbia that have been pretty good. I had a great set of Stearns, but they finally started leaking like a sieve.

For warm weather I own a cheaper columbia suit. don't get wet, and they are lighter so not as warm. If i get wet after April, its not a big deal.

Guidewear w/Gortex you will stay dry. Rainy River I believe is the model..use as a outer shell.

I still have the bibs (lost the coat) of my guide wear that are over 35 years old and still perfectly dry on the rainiest days.

Decades ago, when Gore-Tex and other "breathables" came out. I asked an experienced ocean racer about them. I told him I wanted gear I wouldn't sweat in. He told me "Sweat's warm, rain and seawater are cold". I bought Line 7 gear from New Zealand, and 45 years later, I still use the jacket. After I wear it, I turn it inside out, put it on a hanger and squirt it with a water hose. Let it dry. Still works. IslandJim
