For two weeks I've had a terrible headache. Went to the ER in Commerce and was told it is a migraine. Yesterday I went to the ER in Sulphur Springs. I have shingles on my head. I had the shingles shot a few years ago. Doctor said that will keep it from getting real bad. I'm taking pain medicine and it still hurts. I wouldn't wish these on my worst enemy.

If you have any changes in your vision see an eye doctor immediately. Speaking from experience

Very sorry to hear that slim1. I thought if you got the two shingles shots you were protected. Apparently not.

A couple of years ago, I had to take my wife to the emergency room fearing that she was having a heart attack. Tests came back clear. The doctor started checking her for the reasons for the chest pain and found a patch of shingles rash over the middle of her back They were sitting on a nerve bundle that radiated to the chest. Glad it wasn't he heart, however, she was in substantial pain for a couple of weeks. I promptly got my shingles vaccine. That stuff is no fun.

My wife had her gallbladder removed and then a few days later got the shingles. In in her early 30s. Pretty crazy. She had a real bad. Lots of pain and discomfort for at least the next 2 weeks.

A few years later I got the shingles. It was not nearly as bad as what the wife had. So I didn't think it was shingles. I just thought it was a strange rash and that I was unusually tired... Went to a dermatologist who informed me that I in fact had shingles. For me it wasn't that bad. But I've seen how bad it can be.

And neither of us would even be old enough to qualify or to be suggested that we took the vaccine. My dermatologist told me that for the last 15 years they've been seeing shingles in people in their 30s and '40s which previously was unheard of. She said no one really knows why. But it's something that many medical professionals are seeing...

I hope you get well soon! Gabapentin might be a good option. I think it helped the wife. I didn't take anything by the time I realized I had shingles it was basically all but gone. But the gabapentin I think helped her quite a bit.

I have never had the shot and see no reason to get. Nobody in my family has had and there is no know history of anyone ever having it. Is possibly a hereditary thing? What brings it on ...nerves ? I know nothing about it.

If you had the chicken pox as a kid, you have the Shingles virus dormant in your system. Get the shots. Stress can cause the virus to multiply and you are hurting.
