Heading for a long weekend stay at the state park this upcoming weekend. We are making it a boys trip, and looking forward to "hopefully" putting my son on some small mouths while we are there. From other comments and reading up it seems like the fish are in pre-spawn (staging in a little deeper water, and moving up in the afternoons of warmer days). I don't expect someone to share their secret honey hole, just some general advice on where to look for and find them. Maybe what baits would be best, I am thinking crankbaits, and soft plastics. I know they typically like deeper, rocky structure like the Eisenhower S.P. area of the lake already. Anyways any and all advice is welcome!

They are still deep in the Eisenhower area.

A little bit farther north; I’d be throwing a jerkbait and shad raps in 5-10 fow south facing rocky coves….the ones on the west side of the lake (rocky areas with protection from north wind)

Be sure to have a Texoma license or Oklahoma license also.

I have caught Smallies on Grapevine on most bass lures from PopR’s to Baby Brush Hogs to 1/2 oz Spinnerbaits to Rooster Tails. My advice is just bass fish and hopefully you will get bit by some Smallies.

Launch at the ramp in Eisenhower. Have your boys tie on a 1/16 oz plain round head jighead. Put a small chartruese, milktruese or Arkansas Shiner grub on and work your way out of that cove around to the Perot cove. Nothing guaranteed and they may not have much size but your likely to get bit and catch just about everything that swims.

Throw Megabass Dark Sleepers on the rocks. Arayu color….or something like that. Basically it’s just a sexy shad color.
