A pattern that is going to work in every tournament.

With FFS an angler can take a jig head minnow and a jerkbait and catch fish 365 days a year.

There is no need to understand fish movements and migrations. Just find them and catch them.

I am in no way saying it’s easy, nor am I saying FFS needs to be banned. But is it the best way to decide who is the best fisherman? I personally don’t think it is.

Well. If catching the five biggest fish every day is the measuring stick….FFS guys are best. They don’t award style points, or handicaps. How ya do it doesn’t matter with the way the winner is determined. You don’t get weight penalties for using FFS…you don’t get bonus ounces for flipping and throwing a spinnerbait. Haha

The best tournament anglers use whatever tools are available. They don’t select, choose, ridicule the young guys, bitch after the fact about the younger guys not “earning their way”, they just get the job done.

Very well said.

And what exactly is it doing to the fish population?

But pulling big fish that are ready to spawn off of their beds has no effect?

No more effect than if that same bass was caught a couple days earlier before it was on a bed….just sayn!

They’re gonna spawn. If you pull em off a bed, they’ll be on a different one tomorrow. Damn hussies.

You seem like a Pelosi / Bernie type of thinker, trying to control others just because you have managed to stay alive past 65 years old and think you are entitled to dictate how others live.

Like many, I'm disappointed in all the negativity surrounding FFS and tournament fishing over the past week but also the past few years.

I'm not sure if any of you have seen this video from last year. Aaron from Uncut Angling absolutely nailed this edit and it is the best 53 minutes you'll spend this week, I promise. This exposes everything behind the anti FFS push that we are seeing currently. I don't know how long it took to edit this but it's a banger. Enjoy.

Thank you for having common sense, can you move down to Texas and we’ll send a few grumps to Idaho.

I love everything about Texas but the heat. I’d melt.

“Just find them and catch them” that proves how ignorant you are.

As far as watching goes, McKinney and Fothergill were doing the exact same thing as guys like Martin, Lee, and to some extent Livesey (although Livesey was doing lots of other things as well). Only difference is the older guys were essentially blind flipping the timber and the young guys were only pitching if they saw a fish. So the whole FFS argument really doesn't hold much water as far as TV content goes. They were all flipping and throwing moving baits by shallow timber.

Outside of the coverage spending way to much time focused on talking heads behind a desk and way to little time on the water, I thought the actual tournament was a good one. I really don't get all the negativity about this classic.
