Hey guys, so I've been checking pretty regularly for any updates on how the white bass fishing is right now at Grapevine but haven't seen any threads so figured I'd start one. I know in some lakes the reports are that the fish have moved out of the creeks into deeper water in the main lake, but just wanted to get an update on how Grapevine is looking. My son was really excited to get out on the lake with me this time last year but with so much rain and the high water levels it was not really a great experience so we have been waiting all year in hopes it will be better this year. Anyone have any updates on how things are going out at Grapevine at the moment?

I guess this is the time of year where we just hurry up and wait for the fish then. Thanks for the information, I am going to take your advice and try the creeks. I have a little Bass Buster 2 man that usually pretty good for areas like that I use for crappie and Bass on Joe Pool. You think that it would be doable in the creeks around Grapevine? Im sorry, I am still getting to know the lay of the land when it comes to Grapevine.

Im sorry, I am still getting to know the lay of the land when it comes to Grapevine. It is a long way to get to the good area in denton creek with any type of (boat/kayak/canoe/etc). I take a canoe with a 2.5hp suzuki motor, and love being on the creek. But it is 8 miles to get to henrietta hole if you launch at trophy club parj ramp. I can get there in about 1.5 hrs iin the canoe just putting up the creek. If you launch below the 377 bridge, it might be a little work getting your bass buster down to the water and launched. I have taken my bass boat into denton creek a few times, but I wouldn't do it anymore. Just too many lower unit items to hurt your boat. I have heard your not supposed to park below the 377 bridge, which is pretty sketchy to say the least. I would advise waling into the areas and sample the water. There is a spot you can park and walk right into the upper end of denton creek. I will add a picture below, and I have used this many times. I prefer to take the canoe, or kayak from some short cut areas but i will not go into this. The other creeks identified (other than denton creek) can be accessed with a boat, I would use your trolling motor when you get to the creeks. It's not worth getting stuck 8 miles from the nearest ramp. If you were to launch at the trophy club ramp, it is a idle only creek up or down (period). Unless you have 9 lives don't plane anything in the creek. You can fish allot of stuff near the trophy club ramp, but it will be crappie or catfish only. Going to this ramp to fish around this area for sandbass is a waste of time. The 377 bridge is accessed by crossing the train tracks, you can see it all on google earth. If you walk in, i would say be prepared to get your feet wet. Most areas I fish I will walk out as far as I can (if it is not deep) and get my bait unhung. But most of the creek below the hole this is not going to happen. If you walk way above the hole, you will find some cool small pools loaded. But time on the creek takes time to learn. I have fished my way from I35 to Trophy club park many times with the canoe. this is fun, but its a whole day affair, and I use a motor. I would not want to row that long of a distance. I cross in certain areas to get to better areas. You will be scaling down some steep sloping banks, and will have a high chance to get vine rash walking thru the area. Prob not a good area for a very young kid, if your kids grew up out in the country and are hardened no prob. But the playstation youngster, leave them at home until you scout it out. There is a really cool rock pile at henrietta hole, me and my son always spend 45 minutes walking around looking at the fossils. map pin for google, where to park and walk north to henrietta hole. You will not be alone. https://maps.app.goo.gl/pADdbDpWVBzgtvY9Ai wouldn't go on a weekend. I would only go on a weekday and you might see one or two people. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2025/03/full-1116-263791-dc_2025.jpg)

I have had two trips on the main lake, mostly out west of Meadowmere and I have had exactly zero fish put in the boat.

Oh my goodness! Sandbass definitely did not get the memo about running up the creek. I fished for bass from 4am to noon, and my son came out and we went looking for sandbass. Found them on the humps north of the crusher. Fat donkeys from 1pm to 530pm, with an added big blue. When you catch catfish in an area your catching sandbass you know your "On 'em". Hump waypoints. You can get the gps coordinates from the Google map link. https://goo.gl/maps/mMHEmv3NTyEwPR669 https://goo.gl/maps/5HpsGsF6m42LgCP16Used med spoons, large white slabs, and my new "Mal Lures" Courtney of Russ. Only thing i did was replace the hook with a smaller hook. I reused the small plastic sleeve that was on the original hook. The smaller hook allows you to catch smaller fish, and I use some wicked sharp hooks. The Mal lure worked well, and the weight was good. The catfish inhaled it. Thumper helped tremendously, we tried music as well but it didn't work as well. Mason whacked them vertical jigging, i did more casting and working it back to the boat. Fish are stuck to the bottom during the day, late afternoon they start roaming about 15ft in the water column. Easily 150 keepers, caught. I just couldn't believe how big and fat they are. Maybe they will go up the creek, or they could be lake spawners. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2025/03/full-1116-264097-1000020108.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2025/03/full-1116-264098-1000020113.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2025/03/full-1116-264099-1000020114.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2025/03/full-1116-264100-1000020117.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2025/03/full-1116-264101-1000020126.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2025/03/full-1116-264102-1000020118.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2025/03/full-1116-264103-1000020125.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2025/03/full-1116-264104-1000020127.jpg)

Went out Sunday, it was eventful.. Made my first run over to Scotts and hit up a few brush piles I guess they were all "spawning" as they had absolutely no desire for anything I sent down. I was going to head over to spot 2 by the dam, and then BAM! no steering on the big motor! so trolling motor it is! So I thought why not do some trolling set a route on the Garman at 2mph and rigged up a Sexy Shad 6xd, chrome Rattletrap, and some random black silver crank bait. I got into the Sandy's in 2 spots (see below) they was THICK! it was about 50/50 male and female and all 13in + ended up with 15 keepers. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2025/03/full-114970-264135-gv_sun_san.png)

Wow, nice haul with your son! Looks like maybe the time is close to taking my son out and having some fun in the main part of the lake! Thinking I may head out there tomorrow for a sneak peek and some trial and error, just to get a feel for how things are and test the waters so to speak. I will definitely report back afterwards!

And now I am here at Meadowmere lane boat ramp waiting for the sun to come up. There are two very well mannered young men launching a nice bass boat (not pictured) ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2025/03/full-49806-264543-1000061118.jpg) . I wanted to post that here in case someone knows these guys. I got good vibes from them and it seems like someone is teaching them to respect their elders and the sport. Hopefully I have good things to report today.

How did things go for you today on the lake? I am anxious to find out and hear back with an update. As it turned out I was not able to sneak away and see how the fish were biting between my last post and this one due to work.

Wind made main lake fishing very difficult Caught one and released Only bite the entire day Latitude: 33.00304° Longitude: -97.119628 ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2025/03/full-49806-264590-1000061125.jpg) Brent's waypoints were no cooking Saw a guide at another one and they were slowly catching tiny ones Tough day but enjoyed

Sorry for the late report. Rock crusher was on fire from 4:00 till 6:30 Saturday evening. Good 13" plus fish were the norm. 60 plus fish caught white slabs 3/4" was the ticket. Landed two channel cats one was 7 lbs the other close to 4 lbs. We tried several places and caught fish at every spot but all were small 6 to 8 inchers. Wind was brutal and lucky we had the 22 1/2 ft boat. No protection out at the Rock crusher area. Only kept 12 for the grill.
The 50' rule still doesn't apply to most boaters and jet fleas on GV. Even some fisherman.
