Are they all males, or are there some female and cub sightings?

During my time with the Border Patrol I saw 2 bears, 1 in the Laredo area and another in the Zapata area. Several others were seen on our infrared scope trucks. They are somewhat common down here lately. The one near the fence was north of Laredo. The one in the tree was at the Border Patrol houses in Falcon Dam village, he was pillaging the dumpster early one morning and went up the tree when we got close. Pretty cool to see in person.

They need to build a wildlife crossing area with a bridge or something.

Caddo Lake - The biologist over at Caddo NWR told us they have them there and the last time they had to trap one in the State Park as it raiding trash cans.

Growing up in Wisconsin a friend had cabins up north. We would go to the local dump to bear watch. That was evening entertainment up there.

When I lived in upstate Vermont in the sixties they were as bad as the raccoons are down here; in the garbage cans nightly. Pests.

Here in E. Tennessee I see them swimming across the lake a few time a year... They can swim at a pretty good clip in the water... Dan

Those are cool pics. I bet you have some interesting stories from working Border Patrol.

Southeastern Oklahoma is loaded with black bear, Brokenbow area etc. They are sighted in Northeast Tx on occasion. Would not surprise me if one of these days I looked out my back door at my place in Rayburn Country and see a black bear.

Thanks, Billy

I can’t believe the heat doesn’t bother them with that thick fur in the desert down there
