I was at the pier tonight and this old feller showed up carrying a small Dewalt drill battery with alligator clips hanging off it. He had wedged house keys into the positive an negative terminals. Plugged it in and the motor kicked right off. Yeah, it got a bit hot but did the trick. I’ve never seen anything like it. This may change my life forever. Amazing. Sure, it could have blown up but it didn’t.

I think I’ll just stick with my NOCO GB40, which stays in the boat in a gasketed case.

Wonder it that's about the size of the battery in the jump boxes? hmmm

I've got one (NOCO GB40)in my boat as well. Had to use it once. It can kick over a Merc. 250 Pro XS.

Aren't most drill batteries today 18V or 20V? Some electronics have a voltage range on their input supply. However, it is likely the dead 12V battery would pull the drill battery down when you hook it up.

I would not do it. The NOCO 12V pack would be better.

I've probably tried to jump start an outboard maybe a dozen times... It's only worked once... Last year, tried to jump start the 250 Mercury on the pontoon, someone left the radio on... Tried with the lithium jump pack and nothing... Had to go get the battery charger... Dan confused 3

I just replaced a jump box battery, they’re 7”x3” and cheap, about $40
