How.close to neighbors? Window reflections from neighbors house will melt vinyl siding.

Hardy board is what I would use.

one 1 acre.

I will look at Hardiboard edit typical builder material cost. That is actually what is falling off. I think. lol

vinyl siding sucks it doesnt last high heat makes it buckle and bubble and it gets brittle over time too . its just like putting a band aid on your house , smart board lap siding or hardie board is the best , i like the smart siding best but i will say hardie board holds paint better than anything and if its done right it will out last vinyl . ive installed all 3 on different jobs and this is my opinion vinyl just doesnt hold up for the test of time

I would not be able to afford the paint...
its a real crunch these days. Doubt I will be in the house for more than 5 or 7 years.
between financial stupidity on my part, and the product line at work is shutting down and future health... well

Maybe not even by this December... ugghh

if it helps, only the back of the house gets direct summer sun heat. maybe engineered wood there.
