Really dude? Is that necessary?
I've never in my life owned a feeder.... and have shot three Pope and Young whitetails with my bow on public lands. It's as hard of deer hunting as exists. And deer of that size on public lands with a bow is one of the most challenging game animals to hunt.
If you could care less about deer hunting maybe you don't know what you are talking about and should leave the conversation to the adults. OK so you and maybe about 5 other people actually hunt...everyone else in Texas is a canned hunt hunter. Is that better? Again...it takes a real special person to shoot something off a feeder behind a high fence and then thump your chest like a man. The beauty of hunting and fishing in Texas is that you can do it how you want to as long as it's legal. There are a lot of us that won't be able to sleep tonight because we will be worrying about what you think of us........................................... not.

I have the utmost of respect for anyone willing to kill his own food however they may do it and look the animal in the eye unlike those who rely completely on others to do the dirty work for them and then criticize "the killing of animals". But I draw the line at calling killing a deer off a feeder from a heated wooden box from a Lazy Boy with a beer cooler next to you hunting. But my family makes good money off people like y'all out at the ranch charging you crazy money to do it and call it hunting so enjoy.

That's what I like about "hunting" at a friend's place outside of Kerrville. Open a windows in the den, rest your gun on the back of the sofa, and shoot a deer at the feeder across the pasture.

I DON'T think abolishing it is the answer by no means BUT it needs restructuring. In my opinion it is a good ol boy organization, that needs a real overhaul.
Some issues I have noticed that I personally did not agree with:
La Perla - Private ranch being stocked with share a lunkers fry Lake X - Private playground for state employees stocked with share a lunkers. State employees and friends can use it but not the public. (Gary Klein even fished it years ago per bassmaster article) Inconsistent stockings - Look at how East Texas is stocked vs the rest of the state (I understand the logistics are challenging) There are huge issues with how CMD was and is handled. Many deer herds may have been destroyed early on needlessly (depending on who you talk to). Fresh Water Stamp supposed to pay for new hatchery and had to issue bonds to pay for it since they spent the money elsewhere.
I don't think it is the wardens. All but one warden interaction I have had has been positive. It is the management and I believe it needs attention.

Is it just me, or does this sound like hypocrisy? Point out the hypocrisy and I'll own it....??? I respect those who are willing to kill their own food, just don't call it something it's not and I love making money off of fools who think they are doing something they aren't... I don't see the hypocrisy.

Kind of like using 5 monitors, live scope, side imaging, etc, to catch a fish? Whew!! Thank god I only have 4 12” screens. I’d hate to get lumped into that category!

This legislation might have been taken seriously and had folks actually take a look to amend and refine some of the better points if almost anyone else proposed it. Instead a business man trying to use his political position to get rid of the regulating agency affecting his side business. That is abuse of power.
