Hit Denton Creek this morning walked a good ways back in - not quite to the Hole though. Caught 14, 2 were little dink males the others were 11-14", biggest was around 15, was kinda sporadic. LOTS of people even way back in there, more than I have ever seen in the 10+ years of fishing there. 1/8 oz 2.25" pearl/white paddle tail and they were running the banks on both sides.
One of the females seems to have spawned out, her belly was pretty loose and soft - seemed empty - but I didn't see any fry yet. Neither of the males were milking but they may have been too young (about 6" ea). Water seemed really warm and was lightly stained.

Went a couple days ago, there are a ton of people fishing that area this year! Water was definitely warmer, saw fry along the banks and caught a couple loose bellied (empty) females. I caught 3 on 1/8 oz jig, 2.5" white/clear metal flake rage tail swimbaits. On the way out talked to 5 different groups on bank and boat who caught between 0 and 1 per group. Seems the run in this creek was staggered out yet again this year, but I will try a couple more times. Was off of 377 where the wall cuts across (under the water) - you know where that is if you take a boat up there and dont stay to the left....

Fished Denton Creek today with my son. We rolled the dice and parked along 377 and dragged the canoe down to the upper section of Denton Creek. Where we put in was the old log jam which is not that big anymore. We fished that spot where we put in and we caught two pretty nice fish in about 15 minutes using a double jig setup and a tiny rattle trap. Long story short, Denton Creek is broken. We worked all the way up above Henrietta hole. Probably went a mile above the Henrietta hole area and it was very poor fishing. All the normal deep pools have silted in with sand and are very shallow. I guess the high water event from last year caused a lot of sediment to settle into the deeper holes. Even Henrietta hole is probably 6 ft deep at the deepest part. We talked to about eight people on the way up and the most fish that we heard was four keepers. We went back down to where we put in, and fished for a couple hours and dialed into a shallow edge of a bank and caught 12 keepers which were very healthy. Wouldn't waste my time on Denton Creek at all right now. I will add a Google map link to where we were at when we started. Also a map of where we looked, but it's really hard work catching fish. The method that we found that worked the best was bumping the bottom with a tiny trap. These baits are expensive so it's not a logical bait to actually use. The jig setup didn't seem to do much. The area that we fished we could run the tiny trap over gravel and bump the bottom without getting hung up. Take care all, we had fun and we retrieved all the lures we could see in the trees on the way up and got a pretty good bit of lures. I found a pool cleaning rod years ago, I got a bird's nest of braided line on the end and that's how I pick lures out of bushes and trees.
