He owns a deer breeding, high fence farm and does not want to be subject to the state regulations for deer management or disease control. What an idiot!

Yeah and it's a shame that none of the loudest voices on here have nothing to say . I will say it, that's what happens when rich politicians just care about getting richer at everyone's expense. I have a friend that's a deer breeder and has dealt with some of the regulations but is also not to happy about this entitled approach of Pat Curry to further his agenda at the expense of what most of on here have bought and paid for if you hunt or fish in Texas.

TPWD has had some really poor leadership and decisions recently as a result of some woke ideology infiltrated into the organization but I would not think you would abolish them. They need to right the ship not obliterate it

Anybody upset with TPWD policies regarding aquatic vegetation? We all know that grass makes fishing better.

If you read the bill nothing is really going away, just re organized, or re alignment with other existing agencies.

It is not going anywhere, bill sponsored by a deer breeder who doesn’t like the fact that his operation is subjected to TP&W oversight. That tells you his motive for this nonsense right there

I hate when TPWD TAKES IT ON THEMSELVES TO KILL AQUATIC VEGETATION IN OUR LAKES . IT KILLS THE FISHING!!!!! A few people who own the lake lots have the say so over the thousands of fishermen and boaters not to say anything about the money lost to the cities close to the lake who depend on it for their income. It is so bad to the thousands only to server a very few.

Both guntersville and chickamauga have endless miles of mud flats with hydrilla growing on them and both are fabulous fisheries ……. They sprayed the hydrilla and it took years for fishing to recover….is it possible the chemical companies are bribing the decision makers with scholarships, bogus research projects, speaking fees and campaign contributions? Why isn’t our learned fish and game people screaming about the damage cormorants are doing to our fisheries.

Which lake are you referring to that TPWD has killed the grass on that has affected you?

TPWD is the gold standard for fishery and wildlife management. Been watching the classic anglers bang DD’s all week on multiple lakes in our area. We’re spoiled by living here, listen to what people who hunt and fish all over the country have to say about the job TPWD does. No chance the deer breeder wins this one.
If all you have to complain about is how they handle INVASIVE SPECIES like hydrilla perhaps a fella should turn his attention towards the 2 federal entities that listed it as an invasive species to begin with. You’re never going to have a leg to stand on until that goes away.

... Why isn’t our learned fish and game people screaming about the damage cormorants are doing to our fisheries. This... On lakes in E. Tennessee they're decimating the ground vegetation and trees where they choose to roost... Ten years ago you never saw them, now they're everywhere... Dan

I spoke with an inland fisheries guy from Tpwd at the new ramp on fork a couple weeks ago. He was doing a survey and one of the questions was if the hyacinth affected our fishing that day. I asked him why they have to spray and he said it was the only option they really had. I asked why they don’t draw the lake down like they do some places and he said the seeds last 10 years so it wouldn’t do any good. It killed a lot of it off when they drew down for repairs a couple years ago but it all came back. I’m not knowledgeable enough about to subject to offer any more input than that I don’t like them spraying. But there are several coves on fork that are getting thick with hyacinth

Hate to break the news to some of the people that think this isn't a real threat but Curry sits on the Doge committee that is run by a billionaire south African immigrant that I guarantee I and nobody else on here voted for but is somehow running our country with no checks and balances . Better do your homework and let your voice be heard .It's all about what benefits their bottom line and everything else is irrelevant to them.

I wish they’d abolish having to drive 1-1/2 in I20 traffic to get a stupid boat registration! Why it can’t be done at a local county tax office is beyond me

So nfhbass, do you think it really matters when it comes to politicians whether it's a local, state or federal agency to further there agenda to profit? I'm sure since Musk moved his electric car company here to texas that your tax dollars funded would be very friendly with our state representatives. Point is , it's not Fairfield, it's a lot worse than that by a mile. Curry has a issue with one branch of the state agency and wants to burn it all down no matter how many jobs and people's lives it affects. Do you anyone that's works for Parks and Wildlife?

I have a pretty strong opinion on high fence deer mgmt in tx or anywhere for that matter. I’ve hoped and prayed that those fences burn down and stay down ever since I learned of them as a kid. There is no place for high fence hunting today.

Those high fences keep superior genetics from jumping a fence. Some folks only invest in the highest grade stock.
Ergo, that's how they can charge the money to hunt, that they do. That fence cost money.

do you all like killing penned animals and posing with them like it was a challenging fair chase? Off topic but similar. Mike Bucca…the bull shad swimbait guy. He got busted locally a long time ago getting fish shocked up from the DNR shock boat and hanging his swimbaits in the mouth for pics. I’m “shocked” how big his brand has gotten and I’ll never support him because of that.

Not my fault Texas climate mimics the same environment they came from.
It's gonna be 108° soon.

Those high fences keep superior genetics from jumping a fence. Some folks only invest in the highest grade stock.
Ergo, that's how they can charge the money to hunt, that they do. That fence cost money. Deer should not be farmed, CWD has been an unfortunate consequence.

Yeah I was surprised to see one on the Classic guys this week on Alvarado, do wonder how they did.

Purtis Creek State Park is a good example. It was once the gem of the lake system. We used to fish there every weekend. It was not uncommon to catch double digit bass there. They removed the hydrilla and the bass fishing has never been the same. The effect of having no grass for cover of newly spawned fry totally ruined the fishing and still hasn’t recovered. Huge mistake!

I don't care if hydrilla is invasive or not, it should be controlled on Texas lakes, not eradicated. I have seen no evidence that TPWD knows how to control anything.

I wish they’d abolish having to drive 1-1/2 in I20 traffic to get a stupid boat registration! Why it can’t be done at a local county tax office is beyond me It can be done at the local county tax office IF CAD has someone trained to do boat registration. Most don't but a few do.

Give us a list of county appraisal districts that actually have someone that will do boat registration, I bet you could count them on one hand for the entire state.

They outsource and third party much of the large scale applications and deployments. No biologist in good conscience would carry out these actions in the manner I have seen performed.

It comes in the mail. do people actually go into the office every 2 years?

Gillespie, Kendall and Bandera all have TPWD renewal spots in the tax accessor collector office. Not sure why, we don’t have any lakes around here anymore.

Posted 1:59 PM, Mar 25, 2025 Lauren Adams Hi! I'm Lauren Adams, your Senior Neighborhood Reporter in Central Texas.
CENTRAL TEXAS (KXXV) — Waco’s State Representative Pat Curry got a lot of Central Texans talking when he filed a bill to get rid of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.
25 News talked to Curry and he says it was intended to get their attention, which it did, so he has put that bill on hold for now.
