We are getting ready to start fishing the Spring crappie spawn and bringing home for fillets. Always used crisco oil and liked it but see a lot of people and restaurants using peanut oil. What, if any is the difference and which do you like better?

They use Peanut Oil because it has a higher smoke point than most other common oils.

Allows you to fry hotter.

I'm glad there are wine drinkers in this world ..... it saves more beer for the rest of us.

Just make sure no one is allergic to peanut oil.

If you fry a lot get these:

https://www.acemart.com/equipment/cooking/fryers/valueline-gfc01-filter-cone-rack/AAAGFC01

https://www.acemart.com/equipment/c...yer-filter-non-woven-paper-cone/ROYSFC10

You can filter and re-use the oil 2-3 times.

It's nice to be able to filter in the middle of a fry.

I've migrated to Avocado Oil. Very high smoke point and a neutral taste that does not add anything to your fish or your seasoning flavors. Also considered one of the healthier oils.

I have always used Cottonseed oil to fry fish. Has a high smoke point and the fish do not absorb hardly any oil. You can do a paper towel test and see for yourself.
