I started using small zipties a long time ago on spinnerbaits/buzzbaits because of the rubber bands getting gummy and breaking leaving a naked bait and a pile of living rubber at the bottom of the box... LOL... I use a metal wire made for lure tying from Barlows to wrap my jigs skirts for the same reason, could prolly use a ziptie on the jigs too, but like the wire better...

Agree, zip ties lock skirts down reliably and quickly, solving the rubber band rot issue. Just ensure the tag end is trimmed absolutely flush, as any nub left can potentially snag vegetation or line.

Nothing wrong with using zip ties for building a few jigs or spinner baits or buzz baits it's even a good idea to carry and extra skirt box and zip ties in the boat. For me I hand tie all my baits so I carry a lot of jigs and trailers in my boat along with spinner baits and blade baits with all the trailers

Understood. Different tools for different jobs – zip ties for convenience, wire tying for the dedicated builds. Practical distinction.
