All I been catching is yellow bass, I did catch a real sandbass 2 days ago though and I have seen a couple caught by others, so I know they’re still a few out there.
I’ve fished this run for the last 24 years and never seen anything like the last 7-8 years as far as sandbass numbers dwindling and now overrun with these yellow bass.

I went out there last Thursday, 3/13/25 for my annual yellow bass fly fishing trip. I caught 84 yellow bass and gave a bunch to a new friend. Surprisingly, I only caught about 5 white bass. I also caught 13 undersized hybrids. The biggest was only 17.25 inches. The yellow bass definitely need to be thinned out but I enjoy knowing I can catch these beautiful fish reliably in the Neches at Chandler every year.

We went to Chandler River Park today. Not crowded at all though some people kind of horned in on our spot about the time we were ready to call it quits. Caught 21 fish but only two were whites, The rest were yellow bass. I talked to a kayaker who said this was the worst white bass run on the Neches he has seen in 30 years. That's ok. big whites are fun but I'll take the yellows [Linked Image]

Some good looking vitles right there. The only place I have caught yellow bass, is lake Fork. None out here in the western lakes.

With the only exception of mud puddle Lake W'ford , they are tiny and have been sent via pipeline from Lake Benbrook

stopped in river park on Neches on way back from tyler. Some decent stringers with decent size yellow bass. I walked a few hundred yards up river and fished for 10 minutes with nothing.Walking back a bit a guy stopped and caught 1 so i stayed a few more minutes and finally caught a decent yellow and gave it to the guy. I was not dressed to get back to where I wanted as it is still a bit l muddy.
Hoping the crappie will start back up on Callender. 2' water is rough in the wind pounding it. Maybe next week it will get going.
