1984 was supposed to be a warning, not a playbook.

the biggest deterrent to stopping criminals are camera's . The more the better as far as I can tell . If you are not breaking the law --- why worry . We have two high end industrial camera design companies in the Bay Area ---- crazy good quality , kinda expensive ---but great deterrents .

Flock is kind of marketed as more real time monitoring. I know most jurisdictions are adopting guidelines to only retain data for 30 days which of course is expensive. I wouldn’t worry about the system tracking you so much as I would be worried if I murdered someone and claimed to not be in the area.

Heard a lot about them in the grand jury. Seemed like they helped catch quite a few bad guys.

I wonder how long it will ve before we have cameras in hotel rooms. That’s where most crimes occur, the side walk cams are just so they can see who goes in.

My $.02.
We use them in our city to catch people with warrants and track down other criminals. Flock works.
Case #1: Elderly residents in my neighborhood were robbed by fake gas company people in broad daylight. A neighbor’s security cam got color and type of vehicle. Flock got the plate. Case #2: I served on a murder trial where a motorcycle gang shot and killed a member of another gang. Flock helped establish the travel patterns/timing connecting murderer to the act and Mande it a no-brainer to put his sorry butt in prison for life.
I couldn’t care less that a camera knows I went to the grocery store. It’s not intrusive. PD doesn’t care either- unless there’s a problem. What if your wife disappeared on her way to the cleaners? You’d be praying for a Flock trail.
LET’S GO BRANDON!!!

It's a bad/evil idea/technology. Anyone for this is just not thinking.
Would y'all want to live in China with this ever invasive system tracking you day and night.....with no escape?
"1984" was scary, but, not as scary as our reality of today.
I am so lucky to be so old. I pity those 30 and younger.

Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790) OTHER VERSIONS OF THE SAME QUOTE Those who desire to give up freedom in order to gain security will not have, nor do they deserve, either one. Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both. He who sacrifices freedom for security deserves neither. Thomas Jefferson also said: He who gives his freedom for safety gets none of them. Thomas Jefferson Unquote.

Sorry to be so blunt but in the criminal activity in any populated area of the US I prefer the cameras. In fact I have 4 RING cameras. Do you have any…if you do you should remove them if you really truly believe your own post. There is zero doubt without the current surveillance technology there would be heaps more criminals on the loose committing more crimes.

Ring cameras have helped deter and solved uncountable property crimes in neighborhoods plus violent crimes as well. I enjoy watchin the ID TV “See No Evil” show where many murders that would not have been solved are indeed solved only because of cameras. I get the old school quotes from the Founding Fathers but in this instance I just don’t feel they apply or at least the lack of freedom from cameras is far outweighed by the criminal deterrent. I could not care less if I am being watched on camera in fact it makes me feel safer if anything.

I would say quotes from 2-300 years ago don’t really apply to anything today. Society is a wee bit different now than it was in the 1700 and 1800’s.
