Go next door to your neighbors home and borrow some milk, sugar, flour, etc?
Yes, and on occasion have done it.

Can you still send your children with a Handwritten note down to the corner store so your kids can purchase you some cigarettes?
Nope. Nearest is >6 miles away.

Can you still go visit with your neighbor, get overserved on the cold beer while solving the world’s problems, stay too late, and spend the night in his garage and your wife doesn’t think anything about it?
Aside from being surrounded by devout Baptists, no, the relationships are friendly, not friends.

Fishing, a man knows a serenity of soul and peace of mind that he finds in doing nothing else, and it makes no difference whether or not he catches anything. The mind of a true fisherman is not on petty subjects.

Our county road is not very long. There are a few neighbors that I can count on if needed, and they can count on us if needed and that’s good enough for me.

Build a nice house in a developing neighborhood. Yea, this will work…the price will keep the hood rats out. Nope…all multigenerational families move in. I guess it’s more affordable when you split the mortgage with 17 other people

the new way in America ---then you get to deal with all of them having at least one car . I had a neighbor that lived in a 4 bd , 3 bath ---lots of family and 12 friggin cars . They lived directly across from me . I told them nicely --if you park in front of my house , I will slice every tire , every time .

I have the same neighbors on one side of me for 31 yrs, I have a key to their house and they Have a key mine. They go to Pennsylvania in May and return in Aug.-Sept every year. and we look after the house. I bet I could borrow a cup of sugar if I needed it.

Borrowing milk or beer from a neighbor is no problem, but I haven't passed out in a neighbor's garage since high school. A gas station worker may go to jail now days for selling kids cigarettes, I would never ask them to do that.
