lol, I thought Alamo went back to the original owners with the newest opening. From what I understand, the original owners sold it to some newbies, newbies changed up the menu and ended up closing down. Then original owners took back over. Definitely no shortage of places to eat.

Plus one on the Cabernet Grill for dinner. Great food here! We have stayed at their cabins a few times on the grounds but the restaurant is 1st class menu and food quality. They have a chicken fried ribeye under a lobster sauce that is fabulous. Als, try this place: Just off Main St. on S. Llano St. the Hitchin Post Steakhouse has a really great CFS. Really Good. Here
Advice? Wise men don't need it. Fools

Fredericksburgean here... Alamo Springs has just reopened under new ownership, have not heard if they are living up to the legacy, surely they are attempting. A great alternative to Alamo without making the drive is Pecan Grove. Mamacita's is a tourist place, food is "ok', kind of a nice atmosphere. Locals do Hilda's, Tequila Jalisco, Campo Azul or Taqueria Altos DE Jalisco,, I prefer Tequila Jalisco across from the hospital. Great all american would be Hitchin Post,, good fried mushrooms, giant CFS. A couple of really good pizza places,, West End and Prometheus.. Cabernet is top notch but $$$$, good alternate would be Hill & Vine,,nice place maybe not quite as pricey. A really fun place for breakfast would be Airport Diner, 40s/50s themed diner right on the tarmac, planes just pull right up. Must do for a beer guy,, the original Fredericksburg Brewery downtown (award winning) and Altstadt towards Stonewall, a really incredible place with good craft beer. Martini's is $$$$, Sandwiches everywhere. BBQ Backwoods,, solid,, Eaker Korean style very popular,, up and coming highly rated Leroy's out towards Stonewall,, food trucks popping up like weeds. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^Solid "Intel" right there.
Okie by birth, Texan by choice. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2021/01/full-47849-80883-111.jpg) USAF "Thunderbirds" Alumni 1985-1989

Nothing in Fredericksburg is remarkable, that’s for sure. Except the amount of $$$ your wife can spend on junk. FIFY

Alamo springs is my go to in Fredericksburg. The German joints are meh, better in New Braunfels or Walburg.
Alamo Springs Cafe is just south of town a few miles. Probably the best burger joint in Texas. Order the Cover Burger (it's not on the menu.) it made the cover of Texas Monthly magazine years ago. Alamo Springs has been closed for some time. It’s supposed to re open this year but who knows. For German, Auslander, Allstadt and Friedhelms. Pizza, West End. Beer, everywhere! Wine, same. If a person doesn’t like the food in Fredricksburg they must be a high roller for the ages! It reopened in December. Alamo SpringsWe ate there for the first last spring on a Saturday and read where it was the last day they were open. Barely made it in time and then it closed the next day. It was just OK. No worth the hype everyone made of it.

We actually preferred the Texas Sunrise for breakfast the times we have been there. I thought the traditional breakfast was much better there than the Bakery's.

Garrison Brother’s distillery is not too far from Fredericksburg, as far as restaurants in that area goes, I have nothing.

Yep, ifn you are a whiskey man, Garrison Bros. just recently won best in world in some whiskey category at an international competition. You can tour the place and even help on the production line.
