The Sig P320 is a pretty popular pistol with a lot of people. I have friends who have them and love them. The military adopted it as the pistol is the M17 and M18, with the latter being the shorter barrel version of the pistol.

However, there have been issues with the guns for years. I started covering them right after I started writing here at Bearing Arms back in 2017.

Striker fired pistols are not in my arsenal. They started making striker fired pistols in 2014. So yeah, there may be some issues. I have several Sigs that are hammer fired de-cockers and in carry position with one in the pipe, the hammer is at rest and stress neutral. But that is a personal choice.

They've had issues for sure. I have an M18 which I did replace the recoil spring on because of stovepipe problems, but once I replaced the spring it has been trouble free. That being said, I haven't dropped it on concrete with a round in the chamber. I'd tell anyone that has concerns about them, don't buy one and get a 365 instead if you want a Sig.

I also have the M18 and a 365. Dropped both, several, times, to see what happened....nothing. Both shoot well and I alternate them for EDC.

Any problems ever occur I can go back to my .Colt .45...never hurts to have alternatives...:)

I'll take a good gun topic any day over "bad city topics"!

1. I'm leaning towards all hammer-fired pistols, but I'll still keep my current striker-fired.
2. I love the feel and size of the Sig Mosquito, but I'd like a 9mm version if there is one.

I've searched. I don't know what current 9mm Sig is close to the physical characteristics of the Mosquito.
If there is one, and it's hammer, I'm game.

...!

The P232 I got from Bob is the easiest to shoot straight and fast pistol I've ever used. The gravymaker can punish a soup can at 50 feet, and that is not a easy comment to make.

It's gonna get expensive, both girls want to trade in their airweights after they used it.

The m&p shield is a striker-fired and my go-to choice 90% of the time. Beretta gets the other 10.

It's a golden age for handguns. So many choices out there.

I have a Springfield XDm 3.8 - 9mm I bought in 2011 that is a striker fired pistol. Are you referring to Sig pistols only?

Advantages of A Striker-Fired Handgun
The last few years have witnessed a huge surge in striker-fired pistols entering the gun markets. According to some people, the striker-fired mechanism is not a new phenomenon, since it existed back in the 1890s with Iver Johnson, followed by the Glock 17 in 1982. Whether it’s more advantageous than a hammer-fired pistol, is something that’s subjective.

That is a great shooting gun for sure Pat. Glad to hear your better half likes it!

Oh, I missed your initial point. To my knowledge Sig just started making striker fired pistols in 2014.

I have a P365X and it is by far my best shooting pistol for CC.
