8 out of 10, maybe even 9 out of 10 BBQ joints all fall under the category of "just fine." God plate of meat that tastes just like everywhere else, and sides/deserts are pretty much the only thing to differentiate them. (A lot like running backs in the NFL, if you remember.)

Hard 8 for sure falls under this category.

That’s a pretty solid assessment

Most of the "craft" places taste the same. An over abundance of black pepper and bark. It's offensive

Other than the aforementioned Hard 8, Pecan Lodge is the only other place on this list that I have personally visited. I find it very difficult to believe that there are eight places in the DFW area that are better than Pecan Lodge.

Between this, and including Hard 8... this list is definitely subject to question.

Note: While I have not been to his 407 restaurant yet, I have had T-man's catered brisket. Assuming he has maintained his standards, then 407 would rank up equal to or at least very close to Pecan Lodge. Yet another reason to debunk this list.

I wouldn't trust any BBQ list that puts Hard 8 on it at all. That decreases the overall value of the list. Unless they're down like in the 100's.

407 has amazing BBQ, been buying from Bryan since the Southlake Driveway days.

Closer to my side of town I really like Hutchins personally. BBQ isn't something I am just crazy to spend a ton of money on, so if I have it normally it's something for a special occasion. Cattleack is also really good.

I have not been to David's in several years. I really liked it then. Glad to know they are still in business. Next time I am up that way I will pay them a visit.

That said, Smoke Sessions in Royse City and Smoak Town in Fate are both awesome and at least to me, better than the ones on the list above that I've been to. Closest things I've had to Franklins in Austin.

B4 BBQ in Mabank is absolutely unreal also.

407 is great, but it's been several years since I had it.

Went to B4 before he was popular and a lines not out the door. We were pretty much the only people there. He came and sat down with us and chatted. Really good dude and the food was great.
