Coming down to fish Lake of the Pines in a couple weeks and have been keeping up with the post about it and Caddo. I also Have the Boat lanes chip and loaded it today to do a little looking around on the unit. I see the trails and all the icons he has added and it all makes sense follow the trail and or idle when not on the trail because it all is shallow and or full of trees. My question is about the lower end say Alley creek to dam. Is it all trees down there to? I see some tree icons in places is he warning from there to bank is all trees or just a random few? It has trails to follow on the lower end and I will follow them just curious if it is as critical on the lower end? Thanks in advance

I was recently up there for the first time. I didn’t like the north end above 155. Nasty water and shallow. Don’t understand the hype. South end was awesome though!

I don’t have a lanes chip or anything but didn’t have any problems down there. I did find a pretty big stump field in this red circle. Just on the other side of that island if you’re coming from the dam. I was only idling there but I did hit a few. All I’ll say is if you do decide to fish above 155, be very careful. It’s shallow and there’s plenty of stuff to hit. They have a sorry [censored] excuse of a “boat lane” that runs the river channel, but it is very poorly marked.

That’s all I’ve got for you with LOP

The dirty shallow water don't bother me used to it and kinda even go looking for it as long as it is normal for that area the fish are used to it and it fits our style of fishing. I will keep the area you circled in mind. Thanks.

Above 155 is where all the fishing is on that lake supposedly, and I believe it because there were a ton of boats up there even on a Monday. The difference is, they know what they’re doing up there and I don’t… lol. Just wasn’t for me. Have fun, it’s a pretty lake!

Also, don’t sleep on Lake Lonestar, just about 10 mins north of LOP. I loved that little lake.

That circle should extend northward to the 155 bridge. That is just the beginning of the timber on Pines.

Follow the creek channel and idle up north.

Okay so the main area of timber does come on down to the mouth of Johnson Creek? It looked that way on my Lakemaster mapping but was trying to be sure. Is it clear from there on down to the dam? The card don't really show any trees down there except in the back of some of the creek? Thanks for the info going spend a week with the wife down there and I try not to get to crazy with her onboard.

Yeah as stated, just idle. Use your chart and follow the creek channel. It seemed to me like even the locals idle just about anywhere up on that end of the lake
