Men are like fish...If we'd learn to keep our mouth shut, we'd stay out of trouble.

Newark, New Jersey says hold my beer and rusty shiv knife on all those places. Agreed...lived in NJ for 15 years, Newark is rough...Camden might be worse. That said, I have also lived in Philadelphia, Baltimore, and DC and they deserve to be on the "hold my beer" list too. DC is surprisingly sketchy when you get off the beaten path. I live just outside Memphis now and while Memphis crime is not limited to the bad areas, the vast majority usually occurs in one of several places within the city...this one happened in Frayser which is no surprise. West Memphis, AR just across the river from Memphis pretty rough too. It's kinda like Camden, NJ is to Philadelphia just substitute the Delaware river for the Mississippi river.

Newark, New Jersey says hold my beer and rusty shiv knife on all those places. Had to drop off a hearse there many years ago. Funeral home owner wanted me to drop off his new hearse in Manhattan on a Friday afternoon. NOPE. Left it at his other office and told him he could drive it there himself. Jeez. Newark, NJ was bad enough to drive in that day; I hate to imagine what Manhattan would've been like. On our 2 road trips to Eastern Canada we discussed driving I-95 up the far eastern route but going through the numerous chitholes we'd have to navigate we decided to take the longer route. We were able to skip notable chitholes like Baltimore, D.C., and notably Newark and NYC but still caught Hartford, Conn. and the periphery of Boston. Pretty much the whole Northeastern US sucks out loud until you get to Maine.

Oh, agree about Memphis and want to point out that West Memphis is the vortex of the chithole.

Riley and I have been to Memphis 3 times. We always stayed at the Inn at Graceland. The last time we went after the COVID lockdown, even Beale St became questionable especially after dark. We were told stay around Beale and the touristy areas and you will be fairly safe especially during the day. But yeah outside of the tourist areas Memphis is a Chithole
