You guys sounds just like Bengal fans... THe Bengals have now made it a priority to resign Tee Higgins... If they would have offered him 2 years ago they could have signed him for $20 million a year... Now it's gonna be in the $27-$30 million a year... Same with JaMarr Chase... Last year he would have signed for $35 million... Now he wants to be the highest paid non-Qb in the league... And that price is going up every day... If Bengals management would have acted instead of reacted they could have saved $15-$20 million per year going forward... How many other impact players is that gonna cost the Bengals because they don't cap space???... Another blunder is Trey Hendrickson... Sack leader wants out via trader.. Who's gonna sign Trey and give the Bengals what they want in compensation???... No one, so they'll either have to shell out more millions or have a disruptor in the locker room... Dan

As for Micah, I'd say the folks saying he's 80%-85% of Ware is about right. So he's 85%-ish of a hall of famer? You gotta have a pass rush to compete in this league, and that's going to be worth a fortune to teams that haven't already overpaid mediocre players everywhere. Micah should have been kept if we'd moved forward with a young QB to build around. Keeping Dak means you may as well let him go. Nobody older than 24 has a chance of being on this team when they're super-bowl competitive. I do see some micah jerseys from time to time, which I think is how Jerry decides who to sign. So I expect he'll be grossly overpaid rather than just tagging him or trading him.
Most NFL teams have over-paid their Qb's.
They just having to pay what the market is They did not HAVE to pay Dak anything. If they'd made him play out his existing contract last year and renegotiated this year with a tag on him as many, many folks had suggested, it would have saved them a fortune. They could have signed some free agents last year - Derrick Henry or Saquon for one (either plus Dak's old contract is less than Dak was paid last year). Then his new deal with the injury hanging over him couldn't possibly have been worse than $70M+ against the cap in 2026 and 2027. Or you give up 2025 2nd round and 2024 1st round to move up in 2024 first round to draft one of the elite QBs, tag Dak for one transition year, and you stop paying an average QB 30% of your cap space. Even if Dak had a decent regular season, nobody is under any delusion that he's remotely capable of making a deep playoff run. There's not enough Johnny Walker Blue in Dallas to even make Jerry believe that. All of those are better options. Jerry literally chose the worst option available to him, and everybody knew it except him and a few blue-sunglasses homers. It's so easy a cave man could do it lol. It seems like it would be easy. If I lease a car for 3 years and at the end of the lease it hasn’t performed or accomplished what I wanted it to….I’m leasing a different car. I damn sure am not going to renew the lease on the same car …..for way more money. It doesn’t seem like rocket science.

Dan Pretty sure there are 31 other teams that deal with similar problems from time to time, it is a slippery slope.

To be completely honest for a bunch on billionaires to be so stupid to let salaries get so out of whack when they have a monopoly over pro football they are pretty dumb. They are literally bidding against themselves. At least with baseball and basketball there is the fear of a player going to Japan or Europe but that's not the case in football. They don't even need to collude, they just need 32 rich guys to exercise some common fing sense.

I think it shows there are 3 types of organizations. 1. Smart ones, 2. Lucky ones, 3. Incredibly stupid ones..... if that is the case where do the cowboys fit on that list in the salary cap era.

It's so easy a cave man could do it lol. Pretty much a caveman could do it better than Jerry is. Josh Allen's new contract should tell you everything you need to know about how bad Dak's contract is. Allen has taken a mediocre team to the playoffs 6 straight years and is 7-2 against teams who don't have Mahomes. He's younger than Dak, had a worse team around him than Dak, significantly better than Dak, and making almost a full 10% less than Dak. The whole "that's the QB market" excuse is just a cop out for Jerry's stupidity.

I’m taking door number three. You would be the winner. Right in there with Cleveland. The Jets, Carolina, Chicago and 1 or 2 others. Cleveland is number 1 on the stupid list but there are a few others contending for the title. And it's not because they won't spend money, they spend stupid money on the wrong stuff and they do it over and over

I’m taking door number three. To be fair I'm sure it is hard to have that much money into something and be that close to it, and pull the trigger on a rebuild. So a lot of these guys try to make wild bets to stay relevant now even though it's clearly the wrong decision. Browns and Cowboys for instance. Then there are some that are trying to get relevant but are so talent-deficient that they can't convince themselves to build the right way (OL & DL) because it takes so long. So they build the wrong way and learn the hard way that doing it again isn't actually any easier than it would have been to do it right. It's just a lot simpler to see reality from the outside sometimes. I also think some of them got their billions through lucky bets on longshots and they manage football the same way. All the guys who lost those longshot bets and learned the correct lessons just happen to not own a football team.

Hopefully Jerry's saving enough money to sign mazi to a max contract.
